In the games user research space we've actually had to change how we talk about game systems with playtesters, because while 'NPC/Enemy AI' is common developer jargon that players used to be fine with, the term has been thoroughly poisoned by GenAI and will now elicit negative reactions from many.

the idea of games with a single difficulty level is so weird. it just doesn't make sense. how are devs supposed to magically target you, perfectly, sight unseen? people have all kinds of individual strengths and habits and weaknesses and accessibility needs? that's just not how it works.

This seems like a reasonable change to me, given how many small sales my games have been in that were hidden away in a nested page after ~4 other sales events. Also seems a better chance at getting small games in front of people vs. expecting them to dig through pages to find it (on paper at least)

A teen on Reddit was lamenting about the state of the world and options for the future. My response only got 16 views - did it even reach the OP? - but I feel so strongly about it I'll repost it here. I hope this finds anyone who needs to hear it.

Answer to the previous post from "TheFargo". It reads:
"Hello friend! It’s understandable to feel this way. Our media environment doesn’t help; things that are shocking or upsetting are promoted in our social media feeds because terror drives “engagement.” To be sure, we’re in a period of transition - political things are happening that I never thought I’d see in my lifetime. A “realignment” is happening across everything, from politics to work. Something old is dying and something new is being born. That is ALWAYS scary. But as others have pointed out, realignments happen every few generations. Whenever things change, there’s an opportunity to change them for the better. And in the long arc of history, things HAVE been getting better.

My advice would be to focus not on the dying of the old but the birth of the new. Your generation will shape the world to come. Do not forget zero allocation physic queries were also merged. What I need is to get better at compute shaders. Given the marshal overhead of GDExtension, sometimes using compute shaders makes sense. Godot needs an unified type system. And I wish I could use blend spaces without animation trees.
