I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture. They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

"Farage claimed last year to have “bought a house” in his constituency, but the property is actually owned in the name of his partner, meaning he legally avoided higher-rate stamp duty on the purchase of an additional home – given that he already owns other properties."

If the World wishes to free itself from political distortions, from wealth inequality, then they need to follow the French. No one earned, needs or deserves to be a billionaire. They exist because poverty for millions is somehow an acceptable price for their ever growing wealth. Why? #TaxTheRich

I really, really hate the entitlement that drives wrongdoing like this. "If it's there, it means I can use it for my thing", followed by a reproachful confusion when we, the human beings creating the resource, get mad. Their extractive attitudes kill sharing, and generosity, and openness

I get excited whenever the carbon intensity of the UK electricity grid is below ~100g of CO2 per kilowatt hour of electricity. The 2023 average was 162g gCO2/kWh But just look at this figure - in 2009 it was regularly ~600. We ARE making big changes. Hooray! Source: tinyurl.com/48dwzz33

Lots of good things about this report... But the main evidence beneath it is simply that high numbers of teachers are mothers - so it's good to make things better for mothers to increase retention. Incredible we can't do basic ordinary things to improve teacher retention without a report?

James Heale

Last line from Truss's serialisation in the Mail:
"The whole experience as Prime Minister had been quite surreal and my resignation seemed like just another dramatic moment in a very strange film in which I had somehow been cast. Things had not worked out as I had hoped."Sorry, your highness, but you're really not the dictator of Ithuvania, a Small European republic. In tact, there is no Ithuvania. The hordes of admirers, the military parades, this office -- We Faked it all as an experiment in human psychology.
