In anticipation of a future I pray will never come, I've written the following. Yes, even in tragedy, there is hope... mine is that this poem will heal the wounds that divide us. It is called "Elegy; or, The Fall".

ELEGY; or, The Fall

Down, down, our Titan fell,
Hands stretched outward through the air.
Behind him streaked a comet's tail,
A burning trail of flaxen hair.

A crowd of cooks around him swept
To catch his body as he flew,
But mortal hands to flesh divine
The firmest grasp they cannot do.

The finger tips grazed by the cloth
Of navy jacket, crimson tie.
They struggled for a place to hold,
But found no purchase for the try.

His head lurched forward, jutting out,
And aimed, it seemed, toward the oil
That bubbled in a fryolator.
Fate set its arc, our dreams to foil.

A deaf'ning roar erupted then.
A rush of liquid spurted high.
The boiling splashes struck the walls
With bits of flesh and bits of fry.

For blocks around, a cry was heard,
A mighty bellow, deep and proud.
A tear was pulled from every eye.
"Our Titan!" wailed each voice aloud.

That mane of hair, the shade of gold,
Bobbed limply in the basket's foam.
A cashier spoke, "Lord, if you hear me,
Guide our mighty Titan home."

A ring of workers, some as young
As sixteen, which the law allows,
Encircled there and touched his back,
And wept beneath their lowered brows.

Then broke apart the sobbing crowd.
The manager, whose shift was done,
Stepped forth and said, "Remark this ground
For on it lies our holy one."

That golden sheen now wet with oil
Atop his head was aptly chose,
For high above, upon the roof,
Two arches of its color rose.

And with it, rising, light as air,
A spirit that could never die.
To Heaven, to be too their King
Look now! O! How our Titan flies!

I had both in the same room for years and it was detrimental to my brain I also couldn't really notice it slipping, I just had a baseline amount of stress that kept creeping higher Especially bad if you work from home and don't have strict hours, no matter how different you think you're built

I'm so glad you played this, it's such a good game in so many different ways. I have (almost) never been so happy to just let a game take the reins from me. Expected a game, ended up reflecting on it / games in general / myself, and stopped when I felt ready. also he showed me his songs

In Blazblue, Hazama gets certain combo routes (his good ones) off of having his own back to the corner. Between that and an invincible reversal super that starts some of the aforementioned combo routes, he's very dangerous there Of course, the corner's *still* bad defensively even in his case

It's so much longer than I expected it to be, the pixel art is really expressive, and there's SO much of it. It does this thing I like where everything that fades in/out does it while also moving across different hues, there are so many little details I didn't even Press Any Button yet

Immediately, I can say my favorite thing about The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest (I have played it for 10 seconds) is that it is the right volume when it starts up. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. Also, since I've started writing, the opening's been playing and it's REALLY nice

7 other people My only input is that I liked the roguelike aspects of Darkest Dungeon 1, but not the roguelike aspects of Darkest Dungeon 2. If you aren't against generated dungeons to some degree. I think a well-designed bespoke dungeon pulls a lot of weight in your genre though

Here's my original character Waffles the Wizard. He was hired by the king to maintain the ley lines that used to work great.

A four panel comic:

Panel 1: A wizard looking at a frog with a human hand in his back saying "We shall see what the anti-grafting peasants think of this!"

Panel 2: The frog says "Aren't you the wizard that cooled his orb in a moonwell?"

Panel 3: The wizard, rubbing his eyes in frustration, makes the frog vanish

Panel 4: The wizard in a chair, poking an orb with the text "BARRICADED" over and over again.

one of my big takeaways has been that in a lot of wider shots, it looks like DLSS5 is making the *whole* image seem like the focus. There's a whole composition-and-intent angle that's being completely painted over and I have no clue how they plan to 'fix' (or stop 'fixing') that

it's a stretch, but next I'd start thinking that maybe it's a power draw issue. Just having the tablet draw as much power as it needs to run while the operating system is booting up / loading necessary files could be it But in that case, there isn't really a way to fix it

100

Dire Squid @diresquid.bsky.social · 04/03/2026

*somewhere* in all those boot settings would be a menu that lets you shuffle your hard drives and various USB options around in a big ordered list, and that's what you'd be messing around with. I'd definitely make a note of the way it looks before changing things, just in case

100

Dire Squid @diresquid.bsky.social · 04/03/2026

if it's potentially seeing your tablet as USB boot media, you can go into Boot Order Lock and force your PC to boot from hard drives before USB. However you'll want to remember you did that so if you ever need to use USB to recover your system, you can reverse it

over on x the everything app some Chicago high school kid named Danny Spud tried to disrupt his school's anti-ICE protest by yelling about how much he loves ICE and then filmed himself getting walloped by a fellow student lmao the quote tweet making fun of him has 3x the likes

danny's original tweet which reads, Today, students at my high school in Chicago held an Anti-ICE protest.

I was the only one that decided to hold a sign that said ‘I Love ICE’.

Instead of allowing me to express my opinion, I was assaulted — Just for standing up for law enforcement.

What is happening to America?

there is a 47 second video that sees multiple other kids talk smack to him and one of them just lays into him physically

a quote tweet that has transcription from the punch. the tweet reads:“You’re gonna punch me?”
“Yeah”
“Then you’re gonna in trouble for that”
“Okay”

Followed by this frame is one of the hardest things I’ve seen on the internet this week.

the frame in question is the kid winding up for a punch. it looks exactly like the pepe punching meme

soundtrack is amazing, art direction stands out, some things about the games moment-to-moment presentation felt a little unpolished, many areas get reused via the time-travel plot I think it had a lot of unrealized potential

000

Dire Squid @diresquid.bsky.social · 09/02/2026

I think it did a lot of very interesting things, story-wise. The battle system isn't bad, but it does feel a bit thin as it never compounds too many tactical considerations on you I'm biased towards a JRPG that gives me an adult main character and a story that doesn't treat the player like a child

cast iron's going to take longer to heat up than a pan & the sides are a lot taller so there's going to be a colder-than-expected area above the brownie as it bakes. I can see others already commented on time so I'll just stress that you might get your sides/bottom cooking too fast comparatively
