Seeing the way people have been talking about TADC and Backrooms has convinced me that “lore” is the enemy in storytelling right now, people demand you focus on needless worldbuilding and not just tell a meaningful story with themes and symbols you can apply to life itself.

Per Craig Ferguson: When you're about to say something, ask yourself 1. Does this need to be said 2. Does this need to be said by me 3. Does this need to be said by me right now It's amazing how asking these will get keep you out of trouble (that is, if you actually have sense to begin with)

Generally speaking I find when the players of games say the game has a ‘good story’ it means they vaguely want to know what happens next which drives them through whatever game business they have to do, and when they say it’s ’good writing’ they usually mean the writing flatters the player char

To mark the 1st day of my 4th year without Alice I have an announcement: I’ve joined up with a determined group of women working to change the narrative around trans people. Women standing in solidarity with our trans siblings. Our first step is to ask cis women to read and sign our open letter ⬇️

Not in our name: Women in support of the trans+ community

Can you spare a minute to help this campaign?

This moment from L. Frank Baum’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” was immortalized in the movie with the Scarecrow’s beloved song, “If I Only Had A Psychopathic Ability To Kill Forty Crows With My Hands, One By One, By Breaking Their Necks”

An excerpt from “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”: The King Crow flew at the Scarecrow, who caught it by the head and twisted its neck until it died. And then another crow flew at him, and the Scarecrow twisted its neck also. There were forty crows, and forty times the Scarecrow twisted a neck, until at last all were lying dead beside him.”

Every time somebody defends PC death in RPGs by comparison to other storytelling, I want to throw things. Nobody in a novel/movie EVER dies randomly. Might be random in-story, but the writer made a conscious decision about it. They didn't just roll dice. (Maybe a few people have done that, dunno.)
