In recent years, the media has quietly begun to change the way in which it writes about Bobby Kotick, the former CEO of Activision Blizzard. PMG investigates how Kotick used the threat of defamation to reshape his legacy in the games business, one article at a time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKwp...

I used Malwarebytes, windows defender, microsoft safety scanner (learn.microsoft.com/en-us/defend...), and Emsisoft(www.emsisoft.com/en/) Was probably overkill, but I wanted to be absolutely sure.

Download Microsoft Safety Scanner to run a manual malware scan on Windows and reverse changes made by identified threats. See requirements and how to scan.

Make sure you use a safe device for any contacting support. Stay off the device where the malware was installed. Personally I fully wiped that device and ran 3 virus scans from different scanners before I felt safe using that PC again.

They escalated the ticket up to another team, it took them legit a month and a half to get it back, but I did get it. Sorry you've been going through all this - hope support sorts it soon.

I got my account back, but it took a while. First, try making an account with your email on support.discord.com. If the hacker made one already, as they did for me, make one under an alternate email. Raise ticket with as many details as possible. I included PayPal receipts for nitro to prove my id.

Main thing is, don't take it as an indictment on yourself. Of course, there are things to learn, but they are malicious people, using friends you trust, in moments of weakness. They do this because it works. Wishing you all the best. I got my accounts back in the end, but it took a bit.

Hey man. They got me too about two months ago. I know how bad it feels right now. I'd suggest @ing the google and discord twitter accounts if you can - visibility on this stuff can help. I made an account under a new email on support.discord.com so that I could raise a ticket as fast as possible.

I'm afraid I'm going to exit this discussion here, as you seem to keep putting words in my mouth and it makes it rather impossible to engage in the actual discussion. Have a lovely day!

This isn't about whether someone should get 'het up' about the middle class, but about whether it's relevant to discussing the English class system.
200
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 10/08/2026
The context of the original thread was about explaining to non-English people about our class system. And I think an explanation that simply dismisses the existence of a cultural entity called the 'middle class' - whether or not it exists in a Marxist sense, fails to fully explain it.
100
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 10/08/2026
Of course they do, I never said otherwise. I think you're arguing with a point I didn't make, I'm afraid! I am not saying these things are good or true, but that they exist - and you can't understand class in this country without understanding the strange assumptions made about people.
100
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 10/08/2026
Because it, as a cultural construction, is relevant to an understanding of class in this country, which was being discussed.

I never mentioned RP. Most people in the Southeast including myself speak a variety of Estuary English. I mentioned upthread that it's actually a quite specific accent. I was speaking broadly! It's hard to fit nuance in 280 characters.

My friend, I am from Sussex, and I didn't say there were only two ways to pronounce Bath. Only that the class system is riddled with these little tells. Though the obsession with U Vs non-U is to be fair, more of a middle class preoccupation.
100
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 10/08/2026
I'm not saying they *should*, or that it's a particularly useful way to classify people. But if we're trying to understand the British class system, how you pronounce 'Bath' is part of it.
100
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 10/08/2026
People absolutely hear accents and make class assumptions. This is just objectively a thing that happens.
200
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 10/08/2026
Oh sure. I'm not saying it's a universal truth but it's also undeniably a cultural signifier that is class associated. It's also not every kind of southern accent, but more generally Estuary English. Having an Essex accent, for example, doesn't carry the same cultural cachet.
100
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 10/08/2026
Like because 'class' is so fixed and immovable more than for places where 'class' is purely a rubric for wealth - certain cultural signifiers like a Southern accent, professional job .etc Without understanding the constant war between 'chaps' and 'blokes' you're not getting a full understanding.
100
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 10/08/2026
In a Marxist sense, yes, but I feel like you can't get a full understanding of British class without understanding the aspirationalism and disdain for the working class that is the middle class

Which is why I would say I do not have an issue with any individual, and would always respect people's wishes, but I am not a particular fan of this *trend*. Anyway, my dinner is ready so I'm off, but I appreciate the chat!

Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
I would say it is an increase, in the sense that there is a noticeable shift, culturally, in what people consider a spoiler and how strongly people react when what they feel to be a spoiler is breached. They are individuals, but individuals are influenced by cultural expectations.
220
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
Which I do! I want to note that I do try my best to respect people's boundaries in this regard. But I admit I sometimes find the increasing expansion and scope of spoiler culture frustrating to deal with.
110
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
It follows from the part where I can't know what anyone considers a spoiler, and I am asked to never breach anyone's personal definition of a spoiler. Since I've met people whose definition of a spoiler is 'anything', the only solution is to say nothing.
110
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
I think there is a reasonable social contract to be found here, but I think an absolutist "never discuss anything where someone might see it" goes too far.
110
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
I don't think it's fair to call seeing a bit of a story you weren't expecting to see to be a harm on a level with misgendering.
210
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
Absolutely. I think there is a middle ground here. But I also think public discourse and discussion has value. There are many things I would not know about or enjoy if I didn't stumble upon them, which I wouldn't do if all discourse was forever confined to specific spaces.
200
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
I am quite willing to refrain from talking about big twists in media But I do think there are reasonable lines where people want to know *nothing* it is for them to control what spaces they go into.
100
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
The idea of separating all conversations everywhere by whether someone, somewhere might read a thing and be surprised by it just isn't terribly practical.
210
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
Well, as I just said, because the definition is left extremely vague and people get very upset if you dare breach their personal definition of it, making it hard to know when you are and aren't breaking the rules that keep changing.
210
Dionysia @dionysi.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
The trouble I have is that the definition of spoilers keeps expanding. Is it big twists and reveals? Is it any plot detail at all? I've seen people refer to the *appearance of a character* as a spoiler. At a certain point it just completely supresses the ability to talk about anything.

an issue with how we talk about the games *industry* is that i think we have normalized talking about studios like interchangeable labor pools instead of groups of artists making creative work

Seeing the way people have been talking about TADC and Backrooms has convinced me that “lore” is the enemy in storytelling right now, people demand you focus on needless worldbuilding and not just tell a meaningful story with themes and symbols you can apply to life itself.

100% agree. The entire pathos of the story of facing your inevitable end is totally undercut. One of the best moments of that whole storyline to me is when Jaheira and others will straight up tell you that demanding she keep hope is unfair to her, and to let her process.

There was actually very little Canadian involvement! The troops were straight from the war with Napoleon, a mixture of English and Scottish Foot regiments along with Royal Marines, Artillery and Engineers. The War of 1812 itself, of course, did have plenty of Canadian contribution.
