Syltebo said they used two types of paint on the street - Sherwin-Williams Forte and
Sherwin-Williams Pro-Park. Both are acrylic. Neither advertises itself as
temporary. Forte, which includes urethane for extra strength, bills itself as for both interior and exterior surfaces offering "exceptional adhesion, outstanding durability, and
resistance to corrosion." Pro-Park is specifically designed for pavement and parking lots. It comes in only five colors - white, yellow, blue, "firelane Red” and black.

The article mentions the area was once home to dozens of strawberry farms owned by Japanese immigrant families who were dispossessed of their land during their WWII internment. It fails to mention that Freeman's grandfather founded the Anti-Japanese League that advocated for internment. Weird.

We'd also like to see the city repurpose existing curbspaces, including on-street vehicle parking spaces, into corrals for parking micromobility vehicles. Such intersection daylighting projects improve visibility and safety for vulnerable road users.
A series of metal bike racks is visible in the curbspace along a street in Seattle. Several bikes have been parked along the racks. A graphic from SDOT that illustrates how it's easier for drivers to spot vulnerable road users (people walking and biking) after intersection daylighting projects are installed.

Holy hell Katie Wilson is on fire here.
Most of all, we must tell our own story.

It's time to discard the notion that Seattle is "dying." The forces pushing that narrative never wanted Seattle to succeed. This isn't a call to ignore challenges, but to tackle them with a sense of possibility, because we've seen what our city feels like when we pull together.

Cities are humanity's greatest invention.

Where opportunity, creativity, culture and democracy come together. Cities are where people who are different from one another learn how to live together. Cities are where innovation happens because people encounter new ideas, new neighbors and new possibilities. That's always been Seattle's story, and we have an opportunity, a responsibility, to write the next chapter.
