Lost in the chaos of everything; last week CDC (yes, this current CDC!) issued guidance for COVID vaccination. Last year they recommended vaccination based on "shared decision making." This year it's a stronger recommendation: "COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for all adults ages 18 years and older"

At a glance

Two types of COVID-19 vaccines are recommended for use in the United States: mRNA vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech) and a protein subunit vaccine (Novavax; now manufactured by Sanofi US Inc).
A 2026-2027 COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for all adults ages 18 years and older.
A 2026-2027 COVID-19 vaccine is also recommended for all children ages 6 months–17 years with moderate to severe immunocompromise; for all other children in this age group, a COVID-19 vaccine is recommended through shared clinical decision-making.
Where a recommendation on this page describes use that is not within the FDA-approved indication, the page identifies it as off-label.

So anyway: go get your vaccine. Being sick sucks. Lingering symptoms suck. Prolonged persistent symptoms (aka long COVID) are life changing and avoiding COVID is the best way to avoid long COVID

I was sad that the Mariners traded Luis Castillo to the White Sox, but at least I was happy he was going to a team that made it to the playoffs. And now I just learned that they put him on the IL this week. 😢
