That sounds like an excellent evening.

Highly recommend the documentary Kumu Hina (2014) as a pallet cleanser. It’s about native Hawaiian māhū & trans woman who works to preserve her culture, including teaching about Polynesian conceptions of gender that aren’t the Western binary. Made by Native filmmakers.

I listened to a broad range of music, but it’s possible that my most listened to was Afro Celt Sound System. As you can tell, I was a normal child.

It feels like potato chips being hailed as the ultimate food, and I do like potato chips, but if you try to present a nice curry people just compare it to potato chips and ask why you’re not making potato chips and why you’d hand cut things when chopping machines exist.

Rewatched Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (1990) tonight and we kept commenting on all the things about it that make it intensely human that have been “perfected” out of mainstream film and TV—like actors with a broad range of normal human features—and the creepy blandness left behind.

It's wild that everything queer people or indie people need to make is either perfect or near perfect, when media conglomerates can make multiple seasons of an utterly mediocre police show and everyone's just like yeah that's fine like come on let me make stuff for fun too then

I don’t think I’ve ever thought so much about the full sensory experience of movie theater popcorn as I did during that first movie simply to have something interesting and meaningful to fill my thoughts with while sitting through it. I’ve found something more profound in good 1990s screensavers.

Asexual women are already hit with “corrective” rape at higher-than-average rates so I think we can all see where this is going to go. First they take away abortion, then they take away birth control, then they take away women’s right to not have sex under the guise of sticking it to the queers.

And that these locusts can come in and just devour the industry, take it from us all, is devastating.
