Sir Ian McKellen orates 'The Stranger's Case' from 'Sir Thomas More' by Shakespeare about the Evil May Day xenophobic riot of 1517 in London. This passage was written 400 years ago, but times never change. Humanity refuses to change its unwarranted bias against 'others'.

AI. Watch the hands elongate. Watch the dog when it climbs onto the sofa looking like sub-phantom menace level cgi. Too many short sections (~10 seconds, free AI model limit) of video rather than any one longer take. Because on Twitter twee shite gets clicks. And clicks mean cash.

Two suffragists in period dress, ceremonially putting ballots into a ballot box. The background has been replaced with an elaborate collage of 19th C printing-press parts. The ballots are glowing with radiant spikes. The face of the ballot box has been replaced with an Nvidia Vera Lynn GPU.

One of my mates did this in Scotland in June. High sided into tarmac road. Majority of impact taken by left brake/shifter (hood bent 90°) and forehead. There was a lot of blood from road rash on his nose and he was shaken but upright shortly after I arrived 30secs later. This is his helmet. #alttext
Bike helmet and and cycling glasses photographed on a café picnic tableCloser up of the helmet - more damage visible. The plastic front has split in several places and there's quite a wide area with lumpy compression marks. The edge of the interior foam that's visible is clearly compressed a bitCloser closer up from a different angle. At the top of the picture you can just see through one of the vents in the helmet that the foam has cracked all the way through from the impact

This is a great insight from a young woman in Canberra on housing and time and multiculturalism www.abc.net.au/news/2026-09...
The woman who feels priced out of spare time

Rosie* is in her 30s and lives in Canberra. She captured the point vividly.

"Housing gets covered as deposits, rates, supply. Living it, the real cost is time. You work the hours the housing demands, in the suburb the housing pushed you to, and what gets sacrificed is the ability to sit down with the people around you.

"Multiculturalism worked in this country when people had time to spend with people unlike themselves. Not policy time — ordinary time. Backyards, front steps, sport, the shops, someone's kitchen. That's how a stranger stops being a category and becomes a neighbour.

"We have spent 30 years pricing that time out of people's lives and now we're surprised that cohesion is fraying and asking what went wrong with our values.

"When people are exhausted and stretched and never in the same room, difference stops being interesting and starts being threatening. That's not a failure of tolerance. It's a failure of time. That's what I'd want people in power to understand."

Nice day for a post-bloods wagonway potter home via Consett. Cold to start but warm by the end.
A gravel cycle tests against some black metal railings. Behind it flows the river Tyne. Away on the opposite bank are a couple of dark roofed red brick offices from the early nineties. Three whole of the opposite bank is covered in a thick swathe of just autumnal trees. From the trees poke the tops of a cluster of 5 square tower blocks, 1 slab like block and the spire of a stone church
