"Political violence" is a term that exists to suggest a moral distinction between "violence against politicians" and "violence by politicians" - so that one can be condemned while the other can be normalized. Obviously, no such distinction exists in reality: violence is violence.

Huh. I don't remember the federal government asking me what flavor of "white" I am before. This list of what are I think meant to be ethnicities also seems really arbitrary, and doesn't map out onto ethnicities per se. (This is for an NSF annual personnel report for a graduate training program.)
A screen shot of a web form with the box "White" checked, requesting additional details, including boxes for English, German, Irish, Italian, Polish, Scottish, and a box to enter "for example, French, Swedish, Norwegian, etc.).

Schools brace for potential cuts to special education funding www.washingtonpost.com/education/20...
Special-education advocates and some public school districts are bracing for potential budget constraints as they prepare for the $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts the president signed into law last month.
The billions that public schools get each year in reimbursements from Medicaid for services such as counseling and speech therapy are at risk, advocates warn.
As cuts to Medicaid start next year, educators and other experts say they are beginning to evaluate an uncertain future that could make schools responsible for billions more in services for students. Federal law requires schools to provide medical services to eligible students with a range of disabilities and needs.

Hi, I worked at USAID. 👋 Airdrops are universally acknowledged as probably the worst and least efficient way to get aid to people. You airdrop when you a) want to want to so something but can’t, or b) you don’t want to do anything but want to look like you are.

How’s that ‘institutional neutrality’ working out for y’all now?
What Albanese’s report lays bare is that university administrators – like other corporate executives – are subject to and, frankly, should fear censure under international law.

She writes, “Corporations must respect human rights even if a State where they operate does not, and they may be held accountable even if they have complied with the domestic laws where they operate. In other words, compliance with domestic laws does not preclude/is not a defence to responsibility or liability.”

This means that those administrating universities in Canada and around the world who have refused to divest and disentangle from Israel and instead have focused their attention on regulating students fighting for that end are themselves personally liable for their complicity in genocide, according to international law.

CUNY has fired 4 adjunct faculty members over their speech on Palestine and suspended the leader of a SJP chapter for one year. Unacceptable. In fact, per Francesca Albanese, administrators have quite literally violated international law, inviting personal sanction. mondoweiss.net/2025/07/cuny...
Along with CCNY’s academic sanction case against Malik, CUNY has also fired four faculty members, including Corinna Mullin. Mullin held teaching positions at CUNY as an adjunct professor at Brooklyn College and John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Mullin told Mondoweiss, “Because of our weak contractual protections, adjuncts are some of the most vulnerable among CUNY workers, as demonstrated by the fact at least four adjunct faculty members have recently had their employment terminated by CUNY in apparent retaliation for protected speech against genocide and in violation of the principles of academic freedom.”
