The iPod was unarguably great and useful. But within a few years, a lot of us had started thinking “I quite like actual records” and moved back to them, WITHOUT ANYBODY SCREAMING AT US THAT WE’D DISSED THE FUTURE. I like that we were allowed to decide whether we liked the new thing. That was nice.

I don’t trust Burnham at all - particularly whilst Mahmood remains in post - but he’s clearly a more skilful politician than Starmer. He knows enough to at least throw us a bone, rather than telling us to fuck off, the way Starmer did.

When not in privacy mode the glasses capture an image at a resolution “equivalent or lower” than the picture you get to prove delivery. Amazon’s executive in charge of the roll out would not say how often a picture is captured. From my @opinion.bloomberg.com column:

The images are sent back to Amazon to inform its AI-powered logistics systems the company says will speed up delivery and reduce mistakes. One driver I spoke to who has tried the tech called it “dystopian” and questioned whether drivers will use a so-called “privacy mode”.
