“Paris has embarked on a grand transformation, planting 155k trees, adding hundreds of kms of bike lanes, pedestrianising 300 school streets and banning cars from the banks of the Seine. Parking has been turned into green space…Fewer parents fear their child being run over when they walk to school.”

Have now slowly re-read the ruling, and it is even more damning than at first reading. The ruling pretty much sets out Manchester City was fraudulent on a systemic long-term basis. Not just mere non-compliance, but ‘concealments’ and ‘disguises’. Also some MCFC witnesses were ‘dishonest’.

The answer to that is that the UK has invested less as a % of GDP for decades compared to most other OECD countries We need to become an investment-led economy instead of a consumption-led economy Czechia has better public transport, but we have more Range Rovers. That’s a political decision

We’re deeply concerned that Conference has been denied the opportunity to debate public ownership of water. That faction-driven procedure can stifle debate on essential services should concern everyone who wants Labour to be a confident, outward-looking movement.
On the CAC’s Decision to Block our Motion on Water Ownership

We are profoundly concerned that the Conference Arrangements Committee (CAC) has denied the Labour movement gathering in Liverpool the opportunity to debate public ownership of water. It is a policy supported overwhelmingly by the public and globally the norm.

That such an important question about the future of an essential public service can be stifled by faction-driven procedure should concern everyone who wants Labour to be a confident, outward-looking political movement.

Our Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, put it well when Mainstream was launched last year: “We’ve got to get beyond this culture where everything’s a threat. If people are speaking out, it can actually be an opportunity to make changes.”That principle matters. Labour will need bold ideas and serious debate if our government is to deliver the scale of change the country needs. Conference should be a place where our movement can test those ideas, challenge established thinking and develop new answers together - not one where important debates are prevented from taking place.

If Labour is to build the movement and the programme capable of changing the country, the Party must rediscover its confidence in its members: their ideas, their experience, their willingness to challenge orthodoxies and their capacity to think big about what a Labour government can achieve.

I saw this yesterday - a Ford Fiesta full of the sea. The level goes up and down with the tide. There are four of them at different sites around Plymouth. I’ve run out of lighthouses to spot so maybe I’ll do these instead. plymouthsoundnationalmarinepark.com/where-does-t...
A blue Ford Fiesta. The number plate says “Intertidal” You can see water and fronds of seaweed through the windscreen. A close-up view of the driver’s window of the car. Seaweed and rocks. The level of high tide and low tide is marked on the window. The water level is about a third of the way down from high tide. Another view of the car.A note on the car windscreen.

It reads: YOU'VE BEEN CAUGHT BY THE TIDE
Fortunately, this isn't a fine.
It's an invitation to look closer.
This car is part of Intertidal, an artwork by David Cotterrell that brings Plymouth's tides into unexpected places across the city.
Inside, water rises and falls in response to tidal data from Plymouth Sound, turning an ordinary Ford Fiesta into a machine for making the tide visible.
Why is there water in a car? How does it work? And where does the sea really stop?
CURIOUS?
Scan to follow the tide (and there’s a QR code)
