It could be a painting!
Meme of image and text: image of a seated woman holding a gameboy with four children leaning in over her shoulder to see the screen. All five people are intently staring at the handheld game console. The texts are composed as a social media post and response. The original post reads “A mom helping her kids beat a hard level in Super Mario Land , 1990s.” The responding post reads “this is a renaissance painting”

The composition of the photo does resemble one found either in a 15th century painting, or one from the 16th century Flemish painters.

i don't think the number of earth shattering and transcendent works of art that come out in a given year is super high. more out there numbers-wise now due to the internet, but still not high. but if we live in a landscape where there's no value placed on being that at all, it doesn't really matter.

I arrived at the Denver Art Museum to make a quick survey of the Fork, Knife, and Spoon exhibit on the second floor of the Martin building. I met the designer of the OXO Good Grips peeler and had asked for a full set of dinner ware for my mom. I never knew they had already made them. …
Assistive knife, fork, and spoon set by OXO displayed on a pedestal with a credit label in the lower left corner.

We played a game I created (and letterpress printed) for the Black Cube Nomadic Art Museum’s event “Talk With Your Mouth Full” today.
On the left third of image are many wooden tile from Scrabble in a plastic bag. Balance of image is a printed list of instructions for a multi-player word game. The rules read: “given one-thousand scrabble tiles and up to fifty humans gathered at the Black Cube headquarters… take ten tiles. talk to people. compare tiles and collaboratively compose words for peace, democracy, and inclusion. use each tile only once. trading or swapping a maximum of two tiles per person is okay. single words, phrases, and short sentences are welcomed. share your co-authored words with us please. ‘Talk With Your Mouth Full 2026’”Two hands belonging to one person arranging tiles on top of two copies of the game rules from previous image. The Spanish word “quiero” is spelled out in tiles just above and right of center. The words “use ripples” are spelled in lower half. The words “we all feel fine” are spelled out in scrabble tiles. They are arranged so that the “F” and “L” serve more than one word each. The bi-lingual text “try everyone ‘a bailar cumbia todos’ stress free” is spelled out in tiles.

Sammy Seung-Min Lee’s work “Moonlight on the Colorado” is the focus of my attention this afternoon. It is an installation that includes two channels of synchronized video with respective audio tracks; a pair of bus seats; an over-the-ear headset; and a tambourine.

What is art? I think art is a very subjective term, and there isn't a well defined or correct answer. Art can be an intentional craft, but it can also occur unintentionally. I would say art is something using a media to express an emotion or truth to the creator and the viewer. #ConArtInSitu

1. Art is a creation that can be expressed in many formats, music, writing, drawing, painting and film. Art reveals emotions and beliefs and helps documents history. Art can be human made and but it also exists in nature. Shapes, textures, language, and color are tools for art. #ConArtInSitu

Some may ask: What is art? This is an age old question with no real answer in my opinion. The better question is: what is art to me? To that I'd say art is any form of expression from anyone with creative intention that impacts me. Positively or negatively it has an impact. #ConArtInSitu

When it comes to wall labels, what does a museum owe its audience? A stripped-down version of art that equates accessibility with minimal information? Or is it more respectful to challenge visitors by offering them tools to speak the same language as the artists and curators?
