20. I found your comparison between this work and flash photography to be an intriguing observation, @kennedyasnyder.bsky.social. I also find that the dark hue used in the background allows the lighter-colored trees to pop against the canvas, almost breathing life into the work itself. #ConArtInSitu

19. I enjoyed reading your interpretations of this sculptural work, @bloommwell.bsky.social. The intricate yet delicate patterns created by the light caught my attention. I also agree that it appears almost organic, though the glass and internal glow visually remind me of a snow globe. #ConArtInSitu

Day 17: 1. Class was canceled today, so instead of visiting the Denver Art Museum, I have decided to revisit and further reflect on The Tangled Self exhibition and my own installation, Manufactured Nature, by responding to a series of prompts about the role and purpose of art. #ConArtInSitu

20. I viewed A Mountain Symphony during my first visit to the DAM, and I agree with you, @kennedyasnyder.bsky.social, that the oil paint creates a distinct texture that draws the viewer's eye. This, along with the colorful palette, makes the work feel full of life and movement. #ConArtInSitu

19. As someone who also viewed this work, I enjoyed reading your observations and interpretations, @laura-kora.bsky.social. While I found that these sculptural features created a sense of movement, I appreciate your connection between them and our emotional experiences and perceptions. #ConArtInSitu

Day 16: 13. Today, I am focusing on my own installation, Manufactured Nature, displayed in the Davis Gallery as part of the Distinction Showcase. The work combines projection mapping, sculpture, and viewer interaction to explore how technology reshapes our relationship with nature. #ConArtInSitu

@laurensieg.bsky.social’s piece is so amazing and truly encapsulates EDP. I took the expanded cinema class and learned about all of these processes, which makes her work so much more impressive. I love the incorporation of nature to make it feel more immersive. 14 #ConArtInSitu

20. I viewed Sleepers during my second visit to the DAM, so I enjoyed reading your thoughts, @miadervi.bsky.social. I found it interesting how you connected the work to phone use and being more present, since I hadn't considered this before, and it offers a new perspective on the work. #ConArtInSitu

18. I also viewed this sculptural work in person, and I agree with you, @bloommwell.bsky.social, since the texture stood out to me as well. The vibrant hues and fuzzy surface create a whimsical feeling, yet the form also reminds me of something organic, almost like a plant. #ConArtInSitu

Day 14: 13. Viewing Niklaus Troxler's Jazz Ladies alongside Sax Time reveals two approaches to visualizing jazz music. While Jazz Ladies connects music to the human body and expression, Sax Time reduces sound into abstract movement and rhythm through fragmented lines and typography. #ConArtInSitu

24. I definitely agree with you, @abby-mcpherson.bsky.social. The depth and layering of paint in this work are visually unique and interesting. 23. When I viewed Sleepers, I also felt that it created an intense, dream-like environment, @egrist.bsky.social. I especially appreciate your comparison to running from something, since some projection visuals made it feel as if the viewer was moving through the space themselves. #ConArtInSitu

Day 12: 13. Should art have to make you feel? I believe art should aim to make the viewer feel, regardless of whether that feeling is positive or negative. For example, Sleepers' projections and audio are both soothing and unsettling, which made me feel more engaged with the work. #ConArtInSitu

23. I really enjoyed reading your interpretation of this piece, @clareclarf.bsky.social. When I personally viewed this work, I didn't notice the audio, so I think this adds another layer of meaning and depth, especially in relation to the idea of the comfortable silence it portrays. #ConArtInSitu

22. I definitely agree with you, @laura-kora.bsky.social. When I viewed Hybrid, I also felt that it conveyed a sense of movement that felt alive, yet slightly uncanny at the same time. This may be emphasized by the contrast between the terracotta medium and the realism of the work. #ConArtInSitu

Day 7: 1. How do we start? Do we necessarily have naive responses to art as a starting point? Our initial responses to art are often emotional rather than fully formed, and may feel naive, but still serve as a starting point. For example, my first response to Ma(ma)bot was discomfort. #ConArtInSitu

21. I found it insightful how you connected this artwork to your own childhood experiences, @kennedyasnyder.bsky.social. In your thread, I also agree that the medium and color create a gentle, feminine tone, while the scale juxtaposes this, making the work feel almost overwhelming. #ConArtInSitu

Day 5: 1. How does the artist's choice of material(s) influence your reading of the work? In the work I viewed, The Splendor of Memory by Ana María Hernando, her use of cotton canvas, thread, and inks, with a warm palette, led me to see the piece as delicate, soft, and nostalgic. #ConArtInSitu

22. This is a really intriguing observation, @ellienakahara.bsky.social, regarding the glaze. I briefly saw this work during my first visit to the MCA, however, I did not notice this. It makes me wonder if this was simply an artistic choice or if there is a deeper symbolic meaning. #ConArtInSitu

I found your connection of this part of the sculptural work to the beach intriguing, @kennedyasnyder.bsky.social! This detail also stood out to me and reminded me of how children sometimes lose one flip-flop, which could possibly represent the artist’s childhood memories. #ConArtInSitu

I agree with @etsubuniverse.bsky.social about the feminine tone of this work. I also found the comparison to a wedding veil really interesting, since I hadn’t thought of it that way before. I think this could add an even deeper layer of meaning to this sculptural work. #ConArtInSitu

Level 1 of the Museum of Contemporary Art features Sammy Seung-min Lee: Becoming Motherland. One work, titled Topography Models, made from an aluminum casting of a vacuum-sealed bag, evoked a sense of nostalgia through its use of objects such as picture frames and a child’s flip-flop. #ConArtInSitu

1. What is Art? I believe that art is a form of expression or thought conveyed through the creation of imagery or visuals, with the purpose of sending a message to the viewer. However, this message could be interpreted in multiple ways. #ConArtInSitu
