Today’s Substack post looks at the case for further ECB rate hikes. The latest PMIs point to stronger euro-area economic activity, increasing the likelihood that the ECB will tighten policy again. gerlachmacro.substack.com/p/ecb-my-cas...

Joe Rogan is out there saying we are a communist country despite being run by goldman's favourite davos man, and a team full of ex-executives. Like once this is a familiar frame it sticks around in right wing policy. Again, just like greenland did

Nowhere do I criticise Canada for being good at trade negotiations, or suggest it should roll over.

Do you have trouble reading? The post is literally about the fact that Canada is very good at trade negotiations. And yes, the rest of the world thinks Canada is protectionist on dairy. Do I think Canada cares? Not really? Do I think it's going to change? Also no

The Fed has often put off a move without much consequence, because timing matters less when investors understand what it is doing and why. But that protection may not be there when investors can’t get a read on the new chair.

One of the most funny gag in Shaolin Soccer is Stephen Chow singing in mandarin infused Cantonese. The whole movie worked because it was in Cantonese. This one is a mandarin movie without Stephen Chow. "Chinese Nostalgia" here is always about my generations' nostalgia being taken by others.

Yeah I expect so. Palace want him to have a very good season and then sell him next summer for a huge fee to then do their squad regeneration. Don't think he had a good enough season to attract the sort of fee Palace would want

For journalists, I suspect one appeal of the Twitter verification system was that reporters were verified but not presented as official accounts of the news organization, so you could wash your hands if someone posted something bad. Putting them under your domain makes it a lot more official.

immigration is a skill which once you acquired, you might want to use again but the five year figure is concerning "One in five immigrants who come to Canada ultimately leave for another country within 25 years, with about one-third of those people moving on within the first five years."
