Today’s poem is called ‘Morrissey’s Fridge’.

Morrissey’s Fridge

Morrissey
was filled
with sudden
self-doubt,

as he shut
his fridge door –
did the light
never go out?

THREAD. The definitive list of the absolute best interdimensional portals I have photographed on walks in the British countryside. 1. Gateway To The Land Of Leaping Dogs.
I took this photo on the Teign Estuary in Devon in spring 2022. I thought I was just taking a photo of an attractive hole in an old tree. It was only when I got home and looked through my camera roll that I saw the leaping dog, who I'd caught perfectly framed, mid-leap, totally by chance. I remembered the dog immediately, because of what an annoying twat it had been.

The faraway Thrice-Ninth Tsardom is a magical place cut off from the world of man. Home to firebirds, great dragons, and myriad other mystical beasts, this other-world can be accessed by a number of means. Some find a path to it in an underground cave whilst others find it at the bottom of a lake.
A young woman in medieval slavic dress gazes at the reflection in a pond. In the reflection she sees a regal procession of fantastical elf-like people with pointed ears. At the center of the procession a young woman sits on a large horse with smoke billowing from its nostrils. A small dragon and a cloaked bear walk alongside them while a firebird flies overhead.

See October thinks it's the king of Autumn, said Wolf to Old Fox as they wove along a boggy path. But the true Autumn crown is November's. Only in November are the haws and the berries and the leaves brighter than all the Tower gems! Only in November is the sky as pale as moor-snow & as blue as the Arctic seas! Only in November do a thousand stars fall and tumble and scatter in a dark, smoky sky!

This silk mourning dress, c.1876, was designed for the strict rituals of Victorian grief. Made of black silk, it has beaded cuffs, tassel trim, and a pleated skirt. Decoration was permitted, but only in black.
Front view of a black Victorian mourning dress with a high collar and long sleeves, fitted closely through the bodice and flaring into a floor-length skirt. The bodice fastens with a row of large, shiny black buttons and features a pointed waistline. Beaded embellishments adorn the sleeve cuffs and the hem of the bodice, from which hang black beaded tassels. The skirt is gathered and full, with a wide pleated section at the hem. Displayed on a mannequin against a grey gradient background, the dress appears to be made of a lustrous fabric, possibly silk or satin.
