Does Mamdani have any jurisdiction over it? That would actually change things? That seems doubtful! At least there will be something. The community can put pressure on Callen-Lorde that will be a lot more effective than on NYU! Or Mt. Sinai.. (I have no illusions. I have (other) issues with C-L.)

Clean air in schools reduces infections for the WHOLE POPULATION. Why WOULDN’T we clean the air? The healthcare/missed work costs far exceed the infrastructure costs, don’t let them get away with “it costs too much”. Demand clean air in schools and workplaces!

I doubt it. I have no actual facts about this; but I will offer a hypothesis (very roughly!) like Thomas Kuhn's theory of scientific revolutions – change happens when one crowd eventually dies off. Probably all the old rich dudes that started HRC a long time ago are out of the picture in some way.

My uncle wanted me to see the marker for the Christiana uprising (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christi...). The town stopped an enslaver from capturing and returning 4 people to enslavement. The enslaver was killed and the attempt foiled. 41 people were indicted for treason.
A marker with names of individuals tried for treason because they resisted the fugitive slave law.The first man tried for treason was found not guilty in 15 mins. This is the marker in honor of caster handy.This side of the stone marker lists the name of the enslaver who was killed. His son was injured.

Got this book in Dhaka recently, Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain's important feminist science fiction novella 'Sultana's Dream.' It has facsimiles of the English & Bangla versions, from 1908 & 1922, respectively. As a kid, my mother encouraged me to read her works, including অবরোধ বাসিনী (The Secluded Women).

That is actually bizarre. Even in summer, I recall newborns being wrapped up by their mothers like they were in Alaska. Lol. Probably overkill. But I'll bet it's hard to find pictures of newborns with so little covering. He clearly just snatched the kid as a trophy to hold. Gross!
