In the Klondike Gold Rush, some rushers used bicycles as a cheaper option to feeding dogs or pack animals. Below is circa 1898 Skagway, 1899 White Pass Trail, and BH Svendson who rode from Skagway to Dawson. Plus an 1897 targeted ad, for a 50 pound bike. #alaska #alaskahistory
