Joel Young is running for re-election as an AC Transit Board member. Not only has he been found guilty of harassing a fellow board member, he's used the position for his own personal interest. He was censured by the Board he claims to serve. www.mercurynews.com/2013/07/10/a...

AC Transit and Director Joel Young thought they could sweep his harassment under the rug by hiding it and then lying about it. No way were we going to let that happen. Young isn’t fit for office, and since his colleagues won’t hold him accountable, voters must. www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...

We should both be elated that the transit loan was approved AND remember that Newsom should have approved this last year. Not only is the loan smaller, but it took tons of advocacy, a big protest & months of behind the scenes negotiations. All that energy could have instead gone into Nov measure.

"Buy now, pay later" for rent is just the next frontier of predatory extraction. It's a way of monetizing desperation: turning the basic human need for shelter into yet another fee-laden credit product that will hit the poorest tenants the hardest.
Screenshot of a CNBC Make It article headline reading, “You may soon be able to use a buy now, pay later plan for your rent—what to know,” published January 22, 2026, by Kamaron McNair.

The national "housing wage" needed to afford a modest two-bedroom apartment is now $33.63 an hour. The federal minimum wage—unchanged for the past *sixteen* years—is just $7.25 an hour.
Bar chart titled “Rents Are Out of Reach,” showing what different income levels can afford in monthly rent.

Individuals on SSI can afford $290/month.

A full-time worker earning the federal minimum wage can afford $377.

A family of four at the poverty level: $804.

The average renter wage: $1,227.

Meanwhile, 2025 fair market rent for a one-bedroom is $1,465, and for a two-bedroom is $1,749.
