Elite impunity is perhaps the single greatest problem in American politics going back to Gerald Ford’s Watergate pardons. These people keep getting away with it. This needs to stop.

a big part of ossoff's rhetorical success is it doesnt contain the compromise and caveats that are a baked-in part of democratic party rhetoric. theres no pretending that his opponent is just misguided or will be pulled back from the edge by "the good republicans." ossoff is saying "fuck this guy"

This pin shows Trump is spewing falsehoods. Yet the most salient feature of the Reagan / Bush 1980 campaign, for me, is really when Reagan went to the county location of a notorious white supremacist killing and signaled his support for that killing.
his 1980 speech at the Neshoba County Fair, Ronald
Reagan emphasized his belief in "states' rights," a phrase
historically associated with racial segregation. This speech was controversial due to its proximity to the site of the 1964 murders of civil rights activists, leading many to interpret his message as appealing to segregationist
sentiments. W Wikipedia

Alll of this. I started my career in construction, working office jobs alongside people who worked trades. Know how many 60-year-old guys I saw working as bricklayers? Doing demo? Zero. How many 50-year-old roofers there are? Zero. One reason unions fight for high wages is because careers are SHORT.

Americans are relearning the lesson we learned during the Gilded Age of the late 1890s, when robber barons ran the government and the economy for their own benefit: Oligarchy is incompatible with the common good. I'm hopeful we'll respond with a new progressive movement.

Pretty clear to me there’s a very good case against this man for mass murder, and I’m saying that in as measured a fashion as I can. He’s order the killing of 234 people under no plausible war or legal justification. I am skeptical he will ever face legal accountability for til his but he should.

He knows how to win. He knows how to fight.
And he knows how to message.
And no one will out work him. Regardless of whether he wins the Democratic nomination in 2028 he will make an impact on the race. You can be sure of that. Don't take your eyes off of him. At the minimum, learn from him.

DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

People overthink this, talking themselves out of a candidate they themselves really like in favor of one they imagine more people *might* like. Seemingly odd fits have won repeatedly (Carter, B. Clinton, Obama) while the ones who we're told are more "electable" (Kerry, Romney) do not.

The US already got a do over. A mulligan. A second chance. Much of the world, especially US allies, were ready to write off Trump’s first term as a fluke. The American people’s choice to put him back in power—as a convicted felon, after an openly bigoted, anti-democracy campaign—showed it was not.

Again, bigots will never choose bigotry-lite over the real thing. You're not going to win them but you're going to drive away people who otherwise would have voted for you. And this year -- when voters most of all want "a fighter" in Congress -- running ads about how you will not fight is idiotic.

Macklemore just announced he’s donating the $1 million he made from Sheeran’s tour to 6 organizations to support Palestinians and he’s asking Robert Kraft to match it. This is just the first part announcing it.
With everything that has happened over the last 48 hours, I want to bring the conversation back to where it belongs: to the Palestinian people who are still being killed, still living under military occupation, and still fighting for their freedom.
I will be donating the entire $1 million of my net earnings from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour to six organizations working directly to support the Palestinian people. And I invite Robert Kraft to match my donation. Whatever we disagree about, perhaps we can agree on this: Palestinian lives are worth protecting. A Palestinian life is no less valuable than any other life on this earth.
