Can learning to form healthy bonds reduce psychopathic behaviors?
While early abuse is a known risk factor for psychopathy, the psychological pathways connecting the two remain murky. New research suggests that an avoidant attachment style acts as a bridge, linking traumatic childhoods to cold, antisocial behaviors in adulthood.

Authoritarianism acts as a psychological bridge for dark personalities, study finds
People with antagonistic and selfish traits often express their hostility through rigid, authoritarian political beliefs. A new psychological study suggests that strict adherence to rules provides a socially acceptable way for these individuals to assert control over others.

Quality sleep provides the energy necessary to engage in democracy. A new study finds that while rested citizens are more likely to vote, those struggling with sleep disruptions often channel their frustrations into boycotts and protests instead.

The psychological desire to be the “true” victim predicts anti-democratic attitudes
Both Republicans and Democrats who engage in “competitive victimhood” are more prone to endorsing policies that undermine democracy. A new study suggests this tendency is driven by a psychological process of viewing the opposing party as less than human.

Great news: finally Miles Hewstone is exposed. I stopped citing him years ago, I warned friends/colleagues when I saw them publishing together, I informed as many people as possible about him. We all did. Had this piece been published 15 years ago, everyone would have already known. Shame on Oxford.
