Today I found my first seabean. This seed has travelled a long way to reach #Shetland. Starting it's journey in a tropical forest, travelling with ocean currents and washing up with our first autumn storms. A little piece of luck and joy to hold onto as daylight fades and winter approaches.

I spotted this sunrise from the coffee shop this morning. I ran outside (well, more like walked quickly) and took it from the parking lot. Within 5 minutes, it turned to a golden yellow.🌞 #Photography #ECK #Sunrise

Liverpool to Manchester railway, world's first inter-city passenger service, opened on this day 1830. Tragedy struck when politician William Huskisson stepped on to the parallel track and was hit by a locomotive. Taken to nearest place on the line, Eccles, died later that day.

Heres’ a poem for all the pedents.

Pedents

Foot soldiers in the War on Error,
they’re here to save us from ourselves,
with Fowler’s Modern English Usage
(first edition, nineteen twelve).

They scrutinise each word we write
for typos, gaffes, et cetera,
correcting all our dumb mistakes
to make our grammar betterer.

They sigh and tut and tell us off
for the rules we have forsaken
and chart this nation’s steep decline
by the care we should of taken.

Custodians of the King’s English,
they merely serve to keep it pure
and restrict, they hope, the ignorant
to three mistakes or less.

In doing so, they hold no fear
