So many cards from Reality Fracture have the gears turning in a way no other Magic set has in the past year and a half. I am so excited to brew decks again! #MTG #MTGFRA #RealityFracture

Good to have a reminder every once in a while. It's easy to do, and the problem is likely to get worse. So make it a habit.

Statement from Volkan Baga’s art broker Mark Aronowitz

Hi everyone. What started as an exciting day celebrating the reveal of Volkan Baga's new Jace card quickly turned into a difficult situation when questions of art theft were raised online.

I want to provide some clear context: Volkan followed the exact creative brief he was assigned. In fact, he specifically checked with the art director prior to painting regarding the background swirl and overall mood, and was instructed to proceed with that exact composition.

Wizards of the Coast has since issued an official statement clarifying the matter:

"We’ve seen some of the discussion around the art of Jace, Multiverse Architect by Volkan Baga and Breach the Multiverse by Liiga Smilshkalne and wanted to make a few things clear.

First, the art direction given to Volkan was to directly reference this piece into the art. Much of the visual storytelling in Reality Fracture centers on Jace utilizing or incorporating powerful magic he has learned from events he has experienced. This was a direct, intentional call back to that moment to indicate that, in his efforts to rid the multiverse of Phyrexia, Jace had become the very thing he sought to eradicate.

Second, Volkan created this piece traditionally, from a first sketch done by hand up through the final painted version.

Finally, Magic has long created visual callbacks in its art to evoke connection through its shared multiverse. This has spurred some additional internal conversations about how we communicate those callbacks to artists who create iconic pieces, but it is very important to us to create a shared world that feels unified. This includes use of symbols, characters, and important moments throughout art.

We’ve been in contact with both artists and appreciate measured discussions around these important topics."

Creative misunderstandings happen, especially when reference material is involved, but Volkan worked entirely in good faith and with total professionalism from sketch to final oils. Thank you to everyone w…

Apparently it's the 35th anniversary of the Civilization franchise, and I'll take any excuse to repost this comic. "Civilization" (art by @letsongakemi.bsky.social) #MTG #MagicTheGathering #Vorthos

A Magic fan comic, with the following panels:

Panel 1: Vraska asks Jace, "did you finish your Civ City thing?" Jace says, "had to start over."
Panel 2: Vraska says, "but you've been playing for, like, three weeks."
Panel 3: Jace (stressed) says, "had to start over."
Panel 4: Vraska says, "Why? Did you lose?" Jace says, "No." Vraska says, "So why, then?" Jace says, "France built Big Ben."
Panel 5: Vraska says, "So?" Jace (maniacal) says, "HAD TO START OVER."

A New Color (1/5🧵)

Page 1: A man is walking home, smoking a cigarette, being quietly trailed by a UFO above him. As he enters his apartment, two aliens watch from inside the ship. Alien 1, who has a large head, says, “that’s him. Let’s move.”

Page 2: The man walks upstairs as the aliens watch from the entrance of the building. The man enters his apartment and greets his little dog. Suddenly there is a knock at the door.

Page 3: he peers through his peephole, and sees the two aliens standing in the hallway. Alien 1 is holding a briefcase. From behind him, the voice of alien one: “don’t scream.”

Page 4: The aliens are seated across the room on the man’s couch. Sadie is in her bed next to them. Alien 1 says, “you’re not in any danger. Have a seat.” The man looks at his dog and thinks, “sadie is unusually calm.” Alien 1: don’t scream, or it’s a problem.

As an LGS employee, these Commander Mystery Booster boxes being this stacked & not widely distributed to WPN stores is unfortunate. Hoping that changes for 2027 as they see public response because wow all these spoilers from GenCon are wild, fun, and most likely gonna be hard to come by as singles.
