Unfortunately we see our politicians captured by the narrative that all migration is bad. But what is the alternative if you're hoping to have an economy that can build roads, schools and hospitals and survive major traumas like earthquakes and cyclones? AI is not going to build those bridges.

For those in the back: The total amount the New Zealand government has spent on all historical Waitangi Tribunal settlements over the last 30+ years is less than the cost of a single year of the 2024 tax cuts for Landlords.

Giving poor people books for free to read was a socialist idea and people were totally against it. Nowadays, it's normal to have libraries. Same for firefighting, ambulance, policing. Great podcast www.youtube.com/watch?v=nffK... #USpoli

I think, fundamentally, one of the things I like about Green policy generally is that they want to do what Government is uniquely well positioned for... Delivering services and outcomes to the whole of society that are beneficial widely and which aren't going to be provided by private enterprise.

Waitara Foodbank posting thanks to Knox Church in Waitara, who supply them with ready meals to freeze - 300 of them today. All fresh ingredients cooked from scratch, all voluntary. This is Christian charity above reproach.

Craig Renney explaining how Nats and crew are very bad with money.
"We're not a poor country, but we absolutely make poor choices when it comes to spending.

Let me give you a very brief example. Boot camps.

The first round of boot camps cost $4.1 million for ten children.

That's $410,000 per child.

For that money, let's assume they lived in Palmerston North.

I could pick them up in Palmerston North in a limousine. I could drive them to Wellington Airport. I could fly them first class, Air New Zealand, Cathay Pacific, to London.

In London, I could pick them up in another limousine, Rolls-Royce Wraith II if you must, and drive them to Windsor.

At Windsor, I could drop them off at Eton private school. I could pay for an entire year at Eton and give them $1,000 a week in spending money.

At the end of the year, I could pick them up in the limousine, fly them first class all the way back to Wellington, drive them home to Palmerston North, and then hand them a cheque for $125,000.

Overnight Canadians have become ‘Buy Local’ consumers on a massive scale. Social media promotions, lists, spreadsheets detailing Canadian products everything from house paint to mascara. Small businesses who relied on US sales are quickly finding Canadians rallying to fill that gap. Love it.

If you’re wondering what killed the US-Canada trade negotiations, these were the last minute demands from the US. (They don’t want to have to put French on product labels for instance) Meanwhile the US relies on Canada for 99% of its natural gas & 63% of its crude oil (4 million barrels a day)

Fyi the reason you're seeing Simeon Brown more is because Bishop and stanford are attached to the coup situation, Upston screwed up the Winter energy payment, Nicola's credibility is out the window, Penk is fired and Luxons polling has tanked. Thats the state of the National Party right now.

"If this caucus is too weak to make this decision, then the voters will make it for them." "...these five, are the real villains of today: Erica Stanford, Chris Bishop, Nicola Willis, Simeon Brown, Mark Mitchell. They refused to compromise with one another…None of them would concede to the other."
The Post’s Andrea Vance and Matthew Hooton analyse the aftermath of Christopher Luxon surviving a National Party confidence vote.

Hooton said there were five contenders who were profiled in The Post this morning, and all of them he thinks an objective observer would say, "would do a better job as prime minister and leader of the National Party than Christopher Luxon".

"But it seems that they are all too interested in their own careers, all too interested in being the one that would become the prime minister, and as a result of that, this attitude that 'if it can't be me, then we will stick with Luxon'.

"Because of that attitude, those five people have let down the National Party, and they have left the National Party with a leader who risks taking them to its worst ever result, which was 20.93% in 2002."

Hooton went on to identify them calling them "villians".

"These people, these five, are the real villains of today: Erica Stanford, Chris Bishop, Nicola Willis, Simeon Brown, Mark Mitchell.

"They refused to compromise with one another. They refused to behave like adults and they refused to do what all of them knew needed to be done.

"And that is a disgrace. And National Party members should be very angry."

So some leaking sources say the only thing that saved Luxon was his conspirators couldn’t agree on who shd replace him, 2, possibly 3 factions fighting for top spot. Couldn’t organise their way out of a wet paper bag! Egos too big for teamwork. As bad as Luxon 🤷🏼‍♂️
