In ERs, we see the impact of unsafe roads regularly. Cities with good bike infrastructure have fewer deaths and greater safety for all, regardless of whether they’re walking, cycling or driving. Ontario gov should reconsider how to spend $48 mil Improve lives - not put them at risk #bikeTO #onpoli

Kind of amazing how underappreciated “make the buses go faster” would save service hours, free up bus availability, and actually sell more fares, all of which are positives on a transit agency’s balance sheet

Canadians should realize there are two things going on. With the things regular people are saying, the purpose is to give political space to act. But then there is what actually needs to be done to manage the relationship in our interests and unfortunately it's a lot less emotionally satisfying

I don't think it's by any means stupid, it's just that american opponents are making linguistic arguments about legitimacy, and that's cool and all, but it's also basic pound-the-table stuff

"Mandate", specifically, is a vague word used opportunistically. In the Harper era opponents argued that he didn't have a "mandate". But to an external observer, completely banal to note that voters returned a parliament that gave a mandate to form government to a particular political party.

One of the candidates in this list received a plurality of votes in a free and fair election, receiving a mandate to hold office for a four-year term, and there are consequences for that decision. Canadians broadly understand the situation and the costs our society will bear in responding to it.

It’s not inexplicable. It’s a barrier to modernization and ugly as fuck. Want to preserve it? Fine. Dismantle it and use it at 2 or 3 smaller stations, replacing the concrete roof with glass instead. But Union isn’t what it used to be. It’s time to move on and that means the Bush Shed needs to go

I wanted to give a few examples of the sorts of problems that delay housing (especially City-led non-market housing) and this CBC article is as good a jumping off point as any. It's about a community garden adjacent to Strachan House, a building on City-owned land that has been vacant since 2021.

Still smarting about how Guelph had a massive flop on pedestrianized streets downtown. A sizeable area around the intersection of Macdonell and Wyndham was closed 24/7 in 2020. That was watered down weekends in 2021, and then shut down for 2022. It was massively popular with residents in 2020-21.🧵

My brother in Christ, Toronto puts bike lanes on "secondary roads" all the time (St George, Shaw, Palmerston, Harbord, Portland-Dan Leckie, Huntingwood, etc.) and people lose their minds. Tell the residents of the Kingsway they're gonna lose residential street parking and see what happens.

Would be great if the mayor or anyone on council could present a vision for a cycling network and then actually deliver it. Then when it’s delivered, celebrate its success. Too often when new safe street infrastructure is installed, the announcements are immediately trying to re-assure drivers.

Of the two First Nations, Tallcree was the first to challenge Rath’s stewardship of its trust and later shared evidence with Sturgeon Lake.

Tallcree challenged millions’ worth of Rath’s legal and administrative fees, but its central allegation is that Rath misappropriated the $8.5-million contingency fee refund meant for the beneficiaries of its trust.

On Nov. 17, 2025, 12 days after a court order required Rath to refund the Tallcree trust, court-filed banking records show Rath instead deposited it into a Bow Valley Credit Union account for his professional corporation, opened that same day.

Rath immediately bought $8 million of bullion from a Calgary company called Silver Gold Bull Inc. and purchased a $500,000 bank draft bearing his name.

Court records show that Rath, in an email, had suggested he was entitled to the trust money, despite earlier King’s Bench and Court of Appeal decisions.
