Ottawa has warned the Quebec government against the possibility of US interference in the current election campaign, which is aimed at favouring the election of a sovereignist government.

At the beginning of September, a senior official in the Fréchette government received a call from a counterpart in the Mark Carney government, we have learned.

He was offered the option of going to a "neutral location, where there were no cameras", and was forbidden from bringing his cell phone.
