Diverters are always controversial, so they are a great litmus test to separate those who say they support biking/safe streets from those that actually will (See also Bowerbank in Sidney)

I've said this in some of our book talks, but as an advocate I think spending a lot of time trying to find common ground with "someone on the other side" is generally a waste of time. It's much more effective to identify latent supporters of the things you want in the world and get them to join you.

The complete disregard for urban left voters by the NDP is expected and disappointing. Once again the failure of governments to build more housing in supposedly urban places has left the parties to fight over suburban voters who can only be bought by inefficient gas subsidies

The most reliable way to lose in politics is letting your adversary define the terms. For example, if you're an artist and you let your boss define the AI fight, he'll make it about "IP" (not labor) and ask your help winning a fight to make him richer and you poorer: pluralistic.net/2026/09/02/s...

In a statement, Steve Gross, president of the Sacramento-based Wine Institute, blamed provincial actions for causing “significant harm on both sides of the border.”
