This should be so obvious that it doesn’t need to be said, but given what kind of weekend it’s been on here, apparently it does: If you don’t want old rapists running the world, in office, in the board room, making decisions for all of us get comfortable with “ruining” young rapists’ lives

And if a term is so loaded with baggage then it doesn't really have any place in a manifesto, because (even without the declined amendment, in this specific case) it is going to mean a lot of different things to different people: both in terms of frightening some and emboldening others.

We have to stop using "rejoining". We need to be honest with the public from the start. We want to 'join' the EU as it is today. We won't get back any of the benefits we had accrued in our previous membership. We would be applying to join. Membership is the EU's to grant.

BTW the name 'curry leaves' is nothing to do with their supposed "curry-like flavour" as is commonly assumed. The word 'curry' is based on Tamil word 'kari' which means, among other things, 'black'. 'Kari' here refers to this sweet variety of neem being darker in colour than bitter neem.

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

UK median pay of employee is £31884 a year, net £26476. Working-age adult needs to earn £31500 to reach minimum income standard . Lone parent with 2 children needs £67600. Couple with 2 children needs £77400. Can't get growth without redistribution. Chancellor must cut tax on the poorest 50%.

Yes, there are technical, formal legal reasons why terrorism law is applied to protesters carrying placards, but not to political activists slashing boats. But stepping back, there is something wrong with a legal regime which criminalises one more than the other. A triumph of form over function.

I think once black clad men are interfering with rescues at sea, we are past "legitimate concerns". Once they're attacking boats, and risking the lives of everyone on board, it's just thuggery. The Home Secretary's statement is on the side of criminals. There's no other way to read it.
