What we remember from Gandhi's biography is how he constantly cycled through different diet and exercise regimes, and how that made us feel Very Seen.

We are not *against* justice for cows, per se, we just weren't expecting it to be roughly the third most-important thing on Zoroaster's mind after a) the difficulty of convincing other people to follow his religion; and b) the coming cosmic battle between good and evil.

One thing I was not prepared for when I started reading the Gathas (the oldest part of the Avesta, the part supposedly composed by Zoroaster himself) was all the talk about justice for cows.

and every fucking time
gets to hear you laugh— all sweet and shit

while me— poor me—

It's compelling!
A screengrab from Reddit, headed by a poster of The Odyssey and the name of the OP, accountspayable aka Paul Samuelson. The text reads:
> Adapt The Odyssey
> Change the race of all the major characters
> Add a huge amount of political subtext and references to other non-Odyssey literature
> Deliberately include a bunch of technical flourishes that hurt the entertainment value but puff up your legacy as an 'artist'
> Include your signature incomprehensible dialogue
> Trigger outrage among American conservatives
> Be James Joyce, writing Ulysses. Pic unrelated.

5. Adaptations are often most successful when they make clear, courageous choices about what to leave out - so, for instance, the movie "The Return" seems to me both a much more radical departure from the original source, and also a more successful film.
