Ha ha I hate it here
From the New York Times:

It is a chaotic scene on the National Mall.
Several hundred people have refused to leave despite an order to evacuate because of severe inclement weather that is approaching. Some are even arguing with Secret Service agents. At one point, a crowd of people began running back toward the stage. An officer is sternly repeating the order over a bullhorn and the crowd is booing. Many have begun chanting "U.S.A., U.S.A." A federal law enforcement officer is trying to assure people that the event has not been canceled. Many are not convinced.
One man walking by blamed the situation on "liberals in the weather service," adding,
"I think this is baloney."

Photojournalist Aaron Marckell Williams was killed in a crosswalk as the result of a police chase over a traffic violation. DC local law had made such chases illegal - House Republicans voted to overturn that law last year.
Facebook screenshot of a post from DMV News Now with a picture of Williams smiling.

"A DC photojournalist was run over and killed by a suspect fleeing from police near The White House in downtown Washington DC.

26 year-old Aaron Marckell Williams had been struck while crossing in the crosswalk at 16th Street and L Street NW Wednesday afternoon.

It was later revealed that DC Police had attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect, 20 year-old Santana Matthews, before he ran a red light and killed Williams. Matthews has now been charged with Second Degree Murder.

Williams was a photojournalist for the Washington Informer and was heading to a nearby church to take photos for a story.

“We are heartbroken over the loss of Marckell Williams — a talented photographer, storyteller, and beautiful soul who was once part of the Washington Informer family,” the statement from @washinformer reads. “His passion for capturing people, culture, and truth will never be forgotten.”"

THE HONORABLE JACOB FREY
Mayor of the City of Minneapolis

350S. Fifth St., Room 330
Minneapolis, MN 55415
Dear Governor Walz and Mayor Frey,
It is my responsibility as Secretary of Agriculture to ensure sound stewardship of taxpayer dollars by climinating fraud, waste and abuse in all programs funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The widespread and systemic fraud associated with federal benefit programs in the State of Minnesota and the City of Minneapolis demonstrate an inability to handle federal resources without additional oversight and accountability measures in place.
During your tenures as Governor of Minnesota and Mayor of Minneapolis, numerous non-profits and businesses have defrauded the federal government in what a federal prosecutor in Minnesota called "a staggering, industrial-scale fraud".! Most notably, a Minneapolis-based nonprofit— Feeding Our Future defrauded U.S. taxpayers of nearly $250 million in federal funds given to them by the Minnesota Department of Education.? This fraud scheme involved USDA funding provided to the State of Minnesota to feed hungry children under the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). As of late November, 78 defendants had been charged in what the Department of Justice characterized as the largest COVID-19 fraud scheme in the country?
Other recent examples of'alleged fraud in Minnesota include exploitation of the Small Business Administration Paycheck Protection Program", a scheme to defraud the Housing Stabilization
1-Whut te know about Minnesoca' "industrial-scale fraad" scandal, as more charges are fled and Trump weighs in, "CES Nows (Dic. 19, 3025) available at ht:/www.cbsnews.com/news/atas-do-know-alonesota-frawf-candal

tump-water.
/Federal Jury Finds Feeding Our Future Masternind and Co-D…Services Program", and alleged fraud in daycare centers*, Your Administrations have refused additional accountability and oversight, claiming that criticism of rampant fraud and abuse is
"racist."
While the full extent of fraud in Minnesota is not yet known, it is clear that, under your leadership-
or lack thereof fraudsters can take advantage of federal funds and the American
taxpayer with impunity. This necessitates federal action to protect taxpayer dollars until adequate safeguards can be established.
Despite a staggering, wide-reaching fraud scandal, your Administrations refuse to provide basic information or take common sense mcasures to stop fraud. In fact, rather than conlin your SNAP rolls are accurate to prevent continuing fraud, you asked the courts to block USDA's directive to recertify the State's SNAP recipients. Recent news reports also emerged that the Minnesota Department of Human Services repeatedly reported incorrect information about SNAP to the federal government.? The Trump administration refuses to allow such fraud to continuc.
Therefore, because of your failed Icadership and abysmal financial management oversight, 1 am notifying you that, effective immediately, I am suspending payments on all active awards and any future awards from USDA to the State of Minnesota and the City of Minneapolis, currently totaling over $129.18 million. Within 30 days, you shall provide USDA with payment justifications for all federal dollar expenditures from January 20, 2025, to the present. Going forward, all transactions on awards to the State of Minnesota or the City of Minneapolis will require such payment justification. If those payment justifications are not received, awards will remain suspended.
While your Administrations have turned a blind eye to documented fraud, the Trump Administration has made clear that fraud, waste, and abuse are unacceptable. The American people deserve to know that their taxpayer dollars are helping those in need-not criminals. …

🚨 27,000 KILLED IN SUDAN’S DARFUR IN 3 DAYS

Darfur governor Minni Arkou Minnawi says 27,000 people were killed in just three days after the RSF captured El-Fasher late last month — a massive jump from earlier estimates of about 2,500 deaths.

In March 2025, Senator Chris Van Hollen introduced the Stand Up for Sudan Act to halt U.S. weapons transfers to the UAE “until the UAE is no longer providing materiel support to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)” in Sudan.

On Thursday, Van Hollen tried to advance the bill on the Senate floor, but Republicans objected, blocking his effort to call it up.

We’ll take a closer look this weekend at Trump and his associates’ close ties to the UAE— which the U.S. classifies as a “Major Defense Partner” and is a buyer of high-end American weapons. Stay tuned.
Senator Chris Van Hollen

@ChrisVanHollen
The U.S. has the leverage to help stop the RSF's atrocities in Sudan, RIGHT NOW. But to do that we have to use it.

Today, Republicans blocked my effort to pass legislation to suspend arms sales to the UAE until we can verify they are no longer arming the genocidal RSF. Shameful.

NEW: In his first interview since his arrest for protesting outside the Chicago-area ICE facility, @revdrmichaelwoolf.bsky.social tells me he has "bruises all over my body." Even so, he said, “the cruelty that goes on that facility … must be 100 times worse." religionnews.com/2025/11/15/a...
(RNS) — In video recorded on Friday (Nov. 4) outside the embattled U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Broadview, Illinois, the Rev. Michael Woolf stands alongside fellow protesters, fiddling awkwardly with his backpack as faith leaders and other protesters chant slogans at a line of police officers. A moment later, one officer can be seen walking forward, grabbing Woolf by the wrist and yanking.

Demonstrators attempted to hold on to Woolf, who was a clerical collar, but four officers wrenched him from the crowd and tossed him to the ground. After turning him onto his stomach, officers proceeded to arrest Woolf, and removed him to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office in Maywood, Illinois.

“I’ve got bruises all over my body,” Woolf, an American Baptist minister who is pastor of Lake Street Church of Evanston, Illinois, told Religion News Service. He was speaking in his first interview since being released Friday afternoon after about seven hours in custody.

Woolf said when he asked the arresting officers to loosen the plastic handcuffs that were causing his hands to go numb, an officer replied: “Nobody wants to talk to you — shut the f–k up.”

“It’s part of the dehumanizing nature of it, and it’s it gives me a lot of clarity around what’s happening here,” said Woolf, who has been active in protests against ICE. “It’s really a spiritual emergency.”
