Something I can't stop thinking about: On a whale watching boat out of Provincetown last month, we watched a migrating black-throated green warbler circle the boat before landing on a woman's hat under the canopy of the top deck & resting. Look at it. Haven't you, too, felt this level of weariness?

Pundits on the far-right argue that things like LGBTQ+ rights are in opposition to religious freedoms. They are not. Religious freedoms allow people to live their own lives according to their own beliefs. It does *not* allow people to control how other people live their own lives.

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

Did you know you only need a small brain to make silly little drawings?
4 panel comic:
Panel 1: pink blob guy on a table, pencil in their hands. Grey circle on a piece of paper and a glass of water on the table. They say “look here”
Panel 2: Proudly, they hold up the drawing of a grey blobby character on two stick legs up in the air. The pink blob says “I drew this!”
Panel 3: Satisfied they sit back down on the table. They now go “it’s not much, but..” The grey drawing looks a bit peeved because the drawer is calling it “not much”
Panel 4: But it’s okay, because now the pink blob is very pleased finally. He says “it came from my brain!” Holding the pencil up. The grey drawing blob is happy again, too. End well, all well!

Short-eared owls, definitely fall into the super model category with their smoky eye makeup and flight drama. Divas. From this past January in Skagit Valley, I’m planning a couple of trips north to see them again this coming winter. #BirdOfTheDay #BirdSuperModel #Shorties #Owls #Birds 📷🦉📸
More experienced birders identified this as a female Short-eared Owl. she is a checkered/speckled brown and buff with a large buff facial disc outlined in white. Her eyes are a brilliant yellow with a dark outline, like smoky eyeliner. She’s sitting on a metal post near the road in front of large marshy fields called the West 90 area on the Samish Flats.

This one is a bit odd. For years, Canada Customs seized pretty much any queer books entering Canada. Little Sisters Bookstore, a frequent target, took them to court. The arbitrary nature of CC's seizures was holding a shipment of this book based on title alone. They thought it was about sex.

or whatever the equivalent today is... it's set at 80% of Job Seeker... which is already below poverty levels. This means that asylum seekers (and other visa subclass applications don't have this) are a very vulnerable group from an employment standard and at risk of wage theft, modern slavery, etc

Rebecca @bluebec.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
for different reasons. People on bridging visas may not have permission to work, which means that they can't afford to rent, eat or access medicine without assistance from family, friends or the community. If they get access to the Asylum Seeker's Assistance program (if that still exists)...

Rebecca @bluebec.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
You can't cut the number of visas available in any given year and also reduce the number of bridging visas without also massively changing appeal rights (which would be overturned by the courts). If anything, this is going to create more people on bridging visas, which is a problem...
