I'm under no illusions about how things are or what the trajectory is. But I'm also excited for the future because that is where I will hang out with the people I care about and do the things I like doing, or haven't done before. Weird but telling that this holds less appeal for much richer people.

I'd like to think I'm a person who is generally immune to flattery; but following this result, I have to admit my first reaction was "wow, that is the best, most accurate political quiz ever devised".
A screen capture showing I too took the Brit monkey political quiz, and told me I'm Zohran Mamdani. I'm shallow enough that this will cause me to smile the rest of the day.

Photos of newly arrived immigrants at Ellis Island. Augustus Sherman took the photos between 1902 and 1920 when he worked as the Chief Registry Clerk. Striking to me how the outfits all look good because they have a discernible silhouette (shape and drape).
Two photo. The first is of a Romanian piper; the second is of three Georgians who were employees of the "Buffalo Bill Wild West Show."

I know this is a ridiculously long shot, but does anyone recognize this ceramic pattern? It’s the only piece I’ve found. I’m assuming latter half of the 20th century, but the house’s yard it was in is ca.1900. The piece itself is likely the edge of a teacup or bowl, and has a gold rim.
A triangular china sherd. It is a white background with yellow filigree like pattern. Blue detailing and a rosette with a pink daisy in the center. It has brown/black scalloping at the top of the design. A mint green line tops that, but it may not be purposeful.

I mean, would I be shocked if they tried it? No. But nearly all of these are Dem leaning precincts within 10 miles of Fort Lauderdale. The scale of intimidating everyone just in these would be monumental. There just aren't enough agents

The biggest reason why I dislike the idea of respectability in dress is because it conflates the *appearance* of virtue with *actual* virtue. Wearing a suit doesn't make you respectful, intelligent, or capable, just as wearing a leather jacket doesn't make you rugged.

I don’t consider myself a good person by my own standards of conduct but it kinda bothers me how much it turns out nobody cares at all. Like, in the abstract, I feel like “you should keep your word when possible” should be a thing we agree on and it stains our honor when our country doesn’t do that.

The obvious conclusion is that my favorite genre of music is "Bands that begin with the letters L or N".
My Spotify wrapped Top 5: the National, Lawrence, Little Big, Lake Street Drive, and Nathaniel Ratliff. They all start with L or N -- I hope this doesn't mean I've become an alphabetical centrist.
