Lost in the chaos of everything; last week CDC (yes, this current CDC!) issued guidance for COVID vaccination. Last year they recommended vaccination based on "shared decision making." This year it's a stronger recommendation: "COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for all adults ages 18 years and older"

Two types of COVID-19 vaccines are recommended for use in the United States: mRNA vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech) and a protein subunit vaccine (Novavax; now manufactured by Sanofi US Inc).

When Cuban-American Miami came under the scrutiny of America's top-rated television news magazine, the mayor looked pretty good, but the Cuban-American community took some hard knocks.
Morley Safer, who narrated last night's feature on "60 Minutes," let Mayor Xavier Suarez describe himself as "a classic local leader worrying about the pickup of the garbage, police and fire and zoning and public works."
Safer called the Cuban ascendancy "a 25-year takeover process that's transformed a decaying, subtropical backwater into a vital, glittering metropolis."
His report, however, pointed to several problems he associated with the alleged "takeover."

✔Safer, referring to the "tightness" of the Cuban community, suggested it might be reluctant to "blow the whistle" on drug dealers.
"I'll agree with that," Suarez said. He added that there's another, opposite tendency: "Somebody is not going to like this — but Cubans talk a lot."
✔Safer said, "Miami Cubans may be passionate about American liberty, but it would seem the First Amendment is not their first priority."
He then cited as examples a "Spanish singer blacklisted because she visited Havana 18 years ago, a Jane Fonda appearance canceled because of threats, the filming of Al Pacino's 'Scarface' — banned because of its portrayal of Cubans," and "Bianca Jagger — invited to and then banned from a parade because someone felt she was soft on Sandinistas."
Safer concluded that Cuban Americans are well suited to a city lacking in quiet good taste: "Excess was never a dirty word in Miami; today it is the height of good form. Miami and the Cubans were made for each other — new blood, new money, new success in a town that likes to flaunt it."
