City people need to understand that the humble rural folk are "real Americans" LGBTQ+ kids need to bend over backwards for their bigoted parents Libs/leftists can never abandon their MAGA family Infinite tolerance demanded from only one side. It's always been like this and it's always been a scam

Up to 15% of the population lives in the middle of nowhere, doesn't travel outside of there, and would laugh about nuking the nearest city bc of a fake Facebook post. Truly weird lifestyle.

very tired of being told it is the responsibility of urban democratic voters never to risk possibly maybe by chance seeming less than respectful of rural red state life and then watching thousands in nebraska cheer on the president joking about a nuclear strike on me and millions of my neighbors

I saved a mean tumblr post for you
Tumblr user slimegirlandroid:
tending to my pet anarchists. going into their solarpunk themed enclosure and spreading packaged medicine around in bushes for them to naturally gather. refilling their stock of grain discreetly so they think it all comes from their garden sized wheat field. I spot one and she hisses at me and calls me an authoritarian tankie but i make cooing noises and offer zines as treats and she lets me pet her

So, this very sympathetic piece where the subject is “a lifelong Democrat who had voted for Trump for the first time in 2024”. 5 minutes of checking his facebook shows pro Trump posts as far back as 2019, and a post saying that he “stands with Trump” posted just a couple of days after Trumps coup.

You can’t argue with vibes but this is just vibes. Or the poster just wasn’t around in 2008.
it was bad, but unemployment is absolutely worse now than the numbers show, layoffs are increasing - also cost of living is skyrocketed so even those with jobs are struggling too

I wouldnt say one is "worse" than the other, but way more people are struggling than in 2008

It doesn't make you a better or worse person to read one or the other, but it strikes me as a kind of aesthetic nihilism. Like the equivalent of saying there is no such thing as morality because people don't have precisely identical intuitions.

This point is part of why I find the occasional "Leftists grudgingly respected Biden as president before Gaza" argument to be not just ahistorical, but completely bizarre. It is a thunderous roar of thousands, demanding I accept a reality I lived through is false, and substitute in one they prefer.

Biden pre and post Oct 7 is a dichotomy fit to drive you truly insane.
Bro burned the world for an obsession with destroying Gaza. Before Oct 7 he was doing so much meat & potatoes good governance. I used to go to repro health conferences hosted by him or Harris or his wife now it's all on fire.

You want to stay home forever? I HATE that, but sure, that's an opinion that isn't just an over lie. But "Republicans are better on rights issues" is so false that it can only be lies. Probably opportunistic lies for some kind of grift. No one could *possibly* believe that.

This is also completely ahistorical because before gay marriage happened nationwide it became legal in California and then was rolled back by prop 8 and this happened in a number of states. This *hasn’t* happened with trans rights in any blue states, so we’re actually ahead

As someone that grew up on tumblr the “DEMS AGREED TO THIS” bullshit is because they learned issues still exist. They are bitter that social issues exist and they blame Democrats for “not fight hard enough to solve the issues”

If we could figure out some quality or feature that was common to all the states where this happened or, conversely, common to all the states where this did not happen, that might help suggest a strategy to correct and/or prevent this

People love threatening to murder people for legally riding bikes. Of course drivers regularly hit cyclists riding in painted bike lanes or shoulders. It's almost like motorists don't need any excuse to inflict violence upon bicyclists.
A Facebook comment that includes a comic of a car mowing down a group of cyclist with the text, "Cyclists! Move over and it won't happen!"

No, they’re spinning them up quickly because they’re doing a bad job of it. Gas turbines that are belching pollution into communities, tremendous externalities that are driving the backlash. If you want to create infrastructure you have to build it to last and this is not a model for that.

Also, why do people give Obama credit for marriage equality? If the Supreme Court hadn't ruled on it, then gay marriage would absolutely still be illegal in like half the country. No doubt in my mind.
