Various farmers' organisa-tions, under the banner of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), will march to Delhi on October 23 demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner + (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over the special intensive revi-sion (SIR) of electoral rolls. They said Nalgon-da was chosen as the ve-nue for the conference as it was the epicentre of the historic Telangana armed peasants' struggle.

Owl of the Day: Red Owl Vulnerable 📷 John C. Mittermeier
Red owl perched on a branch, photo. Description from ebird: ‘A rare and enigmatic owl that is endemic to Madagascar. Unlikely to be seen unless you are expressly searching for it. Found in eastern rainforest, and very locally in dry deciduous forest in the north. Call is a spine-chilling screech that drops at the end. Similar to Barn Owl, but much more rufous overall, especially on the back, which never shows gray tones.’

Today I found out that Umberto Eco crafted a version of this meme in the 1980s…
Beware the
alibi of photocopies ! Photocopies are indis-
pensable instruments. They allow you to keep with you a text you have already read in the library, and to take home a text you have not read yet. But a set of photocopies can become an alibi. A student makes hundreds of pages of photocopies and takes them home, and the manual labor he exercises in doing so gives him the impression that he possesses the work. Owning the photocopies exempts the student from actually reading them. This sort of vertigo of accumulation, a neocapitalism of information, happens to many. Defend yourself from this trap: as soon as you have the photocopy, read it and annotate it immediately. If you are not in a great hurry, do not photocopy something new before you own (that is, before you have read and annotated) the previous set of photocopies. There are many things that I do not know because I photocopied a text and then relaxed as if I had read it.

I might have called this finished several thousand tiny brushstrokes ago, but as ever, I needled away at inconsequential intricacies probably nobody would notice or care about. It's always the process. Being lost in it is something all artists are keenly familiar with. Botlickers don't get it.
Detail from the same painting of the fairy wren as in the quoted posts, showing the bird's legs and lower portion of its body. The feathers are many shades of intense blues while the legs are a bluish, brownish grey. The piece is very small and very intricate.

My phone camera has its own problems, but does actually show the contrasts and differing hues better, if not faithfully. 2/
The same painting as in the above post, photographed with a penny and one of the traditional Chinese brushes used to paint it. The penny is roughly comparable in size to the wren's head.

Splendid Fairy Wren (_Malurus splendens_) Watercolour & De Mairo genuine lapis lazuli Ultramarine on silk mounted on paper, 88 × 120 mm. The scan does no justice and flattens the subtly varied blues too uniformly. I tried to edit it as well as I could. 1/
Painting of a male Splendid Fairy Wren in near-profile, facing right. A small bird of vivid blue and rounded proportions with slender legs and a long tail.

Saturn "Storm Watch" - From Val Klavans (valklavans.bsky.social) - flic.kr/p/nvBf5d
This is an approximate true color view of Saturn. Saturn's north polar hexagon stands out prominently while the planet casts a shadow upon its rings.

This composite is made of images that were taken by Cassini's camera system, the Imaging Science Subsystem (ISS) on May 04, 2014 and received on Earth May 05, 2014. The camera was pointing toward SATURN at approximately 1,837,403 miles (2,957,013 kilometers) away, and the images were taken using the CB2, BL1, MT3, MT2, CL1 and CL2 filters.

We report: the moon rose as it was already getting dark, and it was drizzling. It was only by chance that we saw it glowing through the clouds, and decided to wait until the wind pushed them away. It was a full moon yesterday, but as usual, it seemed equally full tonight.
Digital painting: a yellow full moon is glowing brightly in a dark blue sky, the light bouncing off the edges of some dark clouds.
