Israel having a normal one re: the Nobel Prize announcement.
Israel refused to cooperate with the commission, arguing it was biased, and rejected its report as "scandalous". The Israeli foreign ministry reacted furiously to news of Pillay's award on Friday.

"If there were an award for lies, hatred, and blood libels, Navi Pillay wouldn't just be a contender. She'd be a frontrunner," the ministry said on X, adding: "Now that the Nobel commission has rewarded the biggest lie of the 21st century, Joseph Goebbels is certainly applauding from hell.

Ossoff and El-Sayed took different tacks tonight vs their opponents—El-Sayed was more of a subtext of “you dumb fucking racist jackass” while Ossoff’s was more “if you fell down at a gas station I’d toss a lit match on you”—and I don’t think either of those is a bad choice tbh

We absolutely should be horrified by reports of planned public executions and see them as an overt re-embrace of spectacle lynchings--while also understanding that the story of the "modern" death penalty in this country is inextricable from that history, rooted in racial violence & white supremacy.

Selecting Pillay, I imagine, is a way to underscore the value of defending human rights in an increasingly regressive, repressive world
