I've encountered a few people arguing that tariffs are good, actually, because they will force us to consume less and while I think our consumer culture is problematic in many ways, I don't think things such as 'food' and 'medical supplies' fall under the category of unnecessary purchases.

I've had a tea mug on my desk for 7 years now. I when I started this job. I only ever rinse it before making tea because I like the tannin stains. It had achieved an almost mahogany shine when some kind soul washed the stains off. So sad. Can't start over.

There are many people in prison (including Ms Connolly) who in my view do not need to be there. But I’d venture that better evidence of a two-tier society is a national media outlet offering a soft focus profile minimising racist incitement to violence because a prisoner is married to a politician.
