Sadly there was a climate & nature shaped hole at the heart of Burnham’s speech. Nothing on the benefits of nature restoration & same old words on a “pragmatic” approach to N Sea drilling. There’s nothing pragmatic about pouring fuel on a scorching earth - he should rule out Rosebank & Jackdaw now

We have closed all safe and legal routes. This is all that's left. We can fix this by opening safe and legal asylum claims from the other side of the channel, breaking the criminal gangs overnight. That's just not racist enough. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

People hanging flags on lampposts ask why people feel uncomfortable with it. Because that flag, to me, symbolises a country who failed to reckon with its radicalism, and actively embraced it.

Marketing graphic for Nintendo Streetpass on the 3DS. It shows white stick figures going about their days and the two in the middle are walking away from each other, one has a tote bag the other a briefcase. It shows 3DSes in their bags and green arrows forming a circle between the people. At the bottom is two 3DSes doing a wireless communication thing between them.

Our country isn't poor. We're being ripped off. The Labour Government backed Trump's war in Iran and refused to break our dependence on oil and gas - while we have such huge potential for homegrown renewable energy. We can end Rip Off Britain by making different choices.

I've got this recurring dream about a one hour BBC4 documentary on Hanging Around, it's broad cultural significance and how it pulled together many cultural threads of the time to one form 2 minutes 23 seconds of crystallised Britpop essence which, in being indefensible, called time on the genre.

However, my nearest wouldn't replace my aerial board (a common production fault on my model) so I asked him to open mine up so I could have a go swapping it out myself, and he looked me in the eye and said "Sir, what is in there is not for you." and I have mixed feelings about that.

The problems with UK politics run deeper than who’s in Number 10. First Past the Post produces big majorities without real public support and turns politics into a zero-sum scramble instead of cooperation. It’s not a system built to deal with the big challenges we face. No wonder it keeps failing.
