There is another registry, NMDP. I actually donated at an NMDP site. The two *are* collaborators, so don't worry about a hypothetical recipient being missed because you're in one and not the other. Also linked

You get a ridiculous amount of support and deference throughout this process. It's truly great, and affirming. And ANYONE CAN DO THIS.* There no Red Cross prudery. Gift of Life (the registry I am in) will even send you a swab kit for free if you're under 35. *Under 60

If a fireworks company declared they'd invented fireworks so smart they have a mind of their own, and explode whenever they're in the mood, people would go 'that is a bad thing' and 'you are bad at making fireworks' and 'fireworks don't think' and 'if you believe that you are a crazy person'.

how the heck did a print dialogue come up while browsing the store on a steam deck???
A photo of a Steam Deck (handheld gaming console)’s screen in an otherwise dark room.
Taking up the entire screen is a “window” to select options before printing, like what is normally used on a desktop or laptop computer. There is a system power menu is the center of the screen and info bars at the top and bottom of the screen for proof that this is a Steam gaming device, not a normal computer.

Transcription of the screen’s text:

The top info bar reads:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2791440/Brighter_Shores/

The printer dialogue screen reads:

The bottom of the screen reads:
STEAM button: MENU

B: CANCEL

Overlaid on the center of the screen is the system power menu, which reads:
Power Menu
Show Controller Shortcuts

agreeing w post via my second-favorite moment in the whole once and future king btw
"The best thing for being sad," replied Merlyn, beginning to puff and blow, "is to learn something. That is the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then—to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the thing for you. Look at what a lot of things there are to learn—pure science, the only purity there is. You can learn astronomy in a lifetime, natural history in three, literature in six. And then, after you have exhausted a milliard lifetimes in biology and medicine and theo-criticism and geography and history and economics—why, you can start to make a cartwheel out of the appropriate wood, or spend fifty years learning to begin to learn to beat your adversary at fencing. After that you can start again on mathematics, until it is time to learn to plough."

A beautiful, bleak piece of writing.
A screenshot of text that reads:

“Driving back, we traded notes on how likely it felt that the entire zone down there will soon be inaccessible to the public, completely overtaken by the company and its people, or both. The power and capital on display, concentrated in one young company and its stakeholders, boggled the mind. Reading the IPO prospectus later, I saw how they had just given the founder-CEO a huge new equity award that would only vest “upon the Company’s establishment of a permanent human colony on Mars with at least one million inhabitants,” indicating how serious they take themselves on that idea, and how secondary must be any concern about the life on Earth they will disrupt on their way there.”

They’ve got ombre room curtains in that hospital?
A closely cropped version of the quote-reposted image that shows a privacy curtain in a hospital room. The farthest part of the curtain is blue, then the next section is light brown, then another blue section, then the last most visible section is light brown at the top and fades into blue at the bottom.

In real life, these curtains are often a blue or light pink color (that could look brownish is certain lighting or photos); not both.

No fuck off we're not calling this "Millennial grey" this shit was dictated completely by boomer retiree house flippers we absolutely had NO say in this
Millennial grey

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A kitchen with beige grey floors, drab walls, brushed steel appliances, and grey granite countertops.
Grey floors and furnishings are said to appeal to Millennial tastes.
Millennial grey refers to a desaturated colour scheme that is said to appeal to the interior design sensibilities of the Millennial Generation in the early 21st century.[1] Cultural historian Kassia St. Clair attributed its widespread adoption to a desire among Millennials for "a flexible, sensible choice that will last years, hide any stains, and can be adapted to different schemes."[1] Some have diagnosed Millennial grey as a reaction to the warm hues of the late 20th century.[2]

Millennial grey is polarising, particularly when used with imitation-wood-texture sheet vinyl flooring, which many describe as depressing, soulless, or corporate.[3][4] Although attributed to Millennials, the grey colour scheme is often chosen by house flippers, vacation rental owners, or other people who do not actually live in the greyed properties.[3] Thus, the occupant of the property—Millennial or not—has little say in its colour scheme, particularly when deployed for fixtures such as flooring.[4] The greying may have been driven, in part, by a desire to prepare properties for sale in a manner thought to be least offensive to the average buyer.[5] Given the housing crises gripping many countries in the early to mid-21st century, buyers and renters may feel they have no choice but to accept a property decked in Millennial grey.[4]

To the extent that Millennial grey is said to be enjoyed by Millennials, it is also said to be loathed by Generation Z.[1][2]
