I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

It's funny how NIMBYism is such a religious conviction for some people that developers will just say this worldwide without fear of repercussion.

The purpose of politics is to take control of state power and use it to implement policies that meaningfully improve your material circumstances. If your activist leaders aren’t working toward that, ask why.

It cut funding to IRS because the assumption that the way to catch tax fraud is to hire tens of thousands of auditors to look through paper tax returns by hand is insane

Okay, so I have a plan to get everyone on our side. First, we be absolutely as viscerally unpleasant as possible. Next, we downplay any time we get what we want, say it's the bare minimum and so forth. Finally, if anyone gives up and says we win or apologizes, we belittle them.

i am genuinely bewildered by people who say that the rise of white nationalism in the republican party is a response to the "woke left." like, did the woke left cause pat buchanan's 1992 presidential campaign? is the woke left why steve king had a long career in congress?

Something that gets overlooked about the Auckland Upzoning is that it occurred right after 7 pre-existing district councils were amalgamated into a single unitary authority. The plan which did all the upzoning was literally called the Auckland Unitary Plan. Localism empowers NIMBYs.

A Labor Day reminder: having a job is no longer enough to protect millions of Americans from homelessness. For many workers, the greatest threat isn't losing their job. It's that their job will never pay enough, never provide enough hours, never offer enough stability to keep them housed.

This is one of those things that is genuinely hard to overstate: rural life in America is, in many ways, as globalized and homogenized as urban life, if not considerably more so. And that's largely down to the construction of a pan-"rural" identity dominated by a basically suburban group
