Dopamine and sodium appetite! Sodium appetite causes a 'sign change' in the taste of hypertonic NaCl solutions. We've previously shown that generation of the appetite recruits phasic dopamine to the taste of NaCl; here we show the 'derecruitment' process during satiation.

We are saddened to share that we lost a luminary in our field yesterday. Dr. Steven Maier died suddenly with the love of his life, Linda Watkins, at his side. Dr. Maier was one of the founders and intellectual giants of our society. He was funny, creative, brilliant, and kind.
