The dorsal vagal complex is a satiety center in the brainstem that exhibits rhythmic activity independent of the brain's main clock. This study examines the factors that entraining DVC oscillations, revealing that these #circadian rhythms are entrained by meal timing. 🧪 #AcademicSky plos.io/4xqnlhB
Daily regulation of the transcription of neurotransmitter receptors in the area postrema, a component of the dorsal vagal complex. Rows correspond to genes with rhythmic expression. The figures is a heatmap showing how neurotransmitter receptor gene expression levels oscillate over the course of a day (Zeitgeber time).

Semaglutide drives weight loss through cAMP-dependent mechanisms in GLP1R-expressing hindbrain neurons
Nature Metabolism, Published online: 22 May 2026; doi:10.1038/s42255-026-01534-8Semaglutide-induced weight loss is shown to depend on Gs-coupled signalling in GLP1R-expressing hindbrain neurons, with a critical role for cAMP in mediating neuronal activation and downstream effects.

Chemogenetic inhibition of CeA GLP-1R neurons resulted in a strong rescue of Ex-4-mediated reductions in high fat diet intake using a hedonic intermittent access paradigm. This suggests that this cell type is playing a pivotal role in the neural circuitry mediating reductions in appetite by GLP-1s.
