I'm feeling very burned out at the moment. Sick of my own voice trying to chaperone this book into the world, never more conscious of closed doors, keen to move on, tired from a long battle after my ex-publisher imploded & stole my earnings. But I can't pretend it's not nice to see stuff like this.

#R4Today referring to Farage as 'would-be Prime Minister' 🤔 Has anyone EVER heard the BBC referring to Ed Davey, Kemi Badenoch or Zach Polanski as would be PM? Absolutely sickening that our national broadcaster is still elevating a party mired in so much scandal (with only 8 MPs)

I'd very much appreciate it if you took a moment to read the alt text on this. www.tom-cox.com
The photo is one I took during a long coastal walk of the Daymark, a brutalist Victorian shipping tower in Devon, UK. It's old, mysterious, seems a bit like it's from outer-space, likes being near the sea, and looks like it could be a great psychedelic record cover so I think it quite sums up the writing on my website, which I wanted to invite new followers here to have a look at via the link above. There's absolutely LOADS on there, much of it readable for free, if you decide to sign up for the emails where I send it out. I deleted my Instagram account today and it's my hope that I can soon get to the stage where Bluesky is the only social media I use and everything else goes to people via my site, without idiot algorithms getting in the way. Which will ultimately give me more time to write (I hope). My suggestion is that you sign up for the free package then, if you like it, you can always support my writing by signing up for the paywalled stuff too. I've offered a choice of prices, starting at less than £2 per month, so hopefully everyone who really wants to read everything I write will be able to afford it.

A red-shouldered hawk perches on a power line against a soft, green forest background. The bird is fanning out its wings in an attempt to dry off, revealing a distinct pattern of dark and light bands on the underside of its wings and tail feathers. Its yellow talons grip the wire as it looks to the right. Fine droplets of rain are visible in the air.

We must take on the hateful forces that seek to divide us. My statement on recent events in Belfast.
The knife attack in Belfast on Monday was truly horrific. My thoughts are with Stephen Ogilvy and his family, who deserve justice.

Targeting and terrorising innocent people because of the colour of their skin, including setting fire to their homes, has nothing to do with justice or a desire to keep communities safe, however. It is racist mob violence, which has been organised, enabled and whipped up by those seeking to profit politically and financially from hatred, fear and disorder.

Social media platforms who give money and reach to these individuals to promote their hate need to be held to account. They cannot be allowed to continue pouring petrol on the flames.

The disgraceful violence is a direct consequence of the normalisation of vile, racist rhetoric across the UK, which needs to be challenged far more robustly in our political discourse.

I welcome the steps the Prime Minister has taken to work with police and the First Minister of Northern Ireland. We must stand together to prevent further disorder, and to take on the hateful forces that seek to divide us.

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan
