Factorio just sets the level of abstraction at a different height. Sure you have to manage supply chains but you research new technologies by putting raw materials into a machine, and getting "science packs" out. You craft complex machines directly from raw materials by clicking buttons.

Most of the time the simulation is that you're giving high level orders to more capable experts who are actually handling the details of things like logistics allocation and payroll. That's all just baked into the "create troops" button and the vague "materials" currency.

Is more complicated than most, but you can really use it to create almost anything if you follow the processes, and most common crafting recipes are available for free on the wiki. The only real secret ones are niche, like the Colonel's 11 herbs and spices, or Ziljan's secret alloy for cymbals.

I think it's pretty clear that generative AI is already smashing pretty hard against a functional limit, but yeah, the future will tell. For now though, it is still not capable of producing anything of creative worth. Even utilized by a human, genAI is a net negative to creativity and imagination.

So if an Astronomy professor publicly supports geocentric flat earth theory the university should let them keep their job? Or if a philosophy professor starts publicly supporting debunked racist ideas about certain humans being inferior, that should be fine?

Anyone who makes comedy knows that most of the information you are transmitting in any piece of work is hidden intent, subtext and motive. Computers and LLMs cannot have those things. You can put them in yourself, read what was absent. But you get annoyed when you realise there was nothing there.

I don't argue that AI can't generate something that sounds pleasant but that feeling of awe and delight because of another being, the sudden silence and the almost intimate ambience created by their playing was something that is so so quintessentially human that no machine can copy it
