I did not watch Scandal, but my then-roommate went through a bad breakup and chose it as his "binge watch to make the sad go away" show. I would come home from campus to him having watched 8-9 episodes in a day and the "so here's what happened in Scandal while you were out" updates were DERANGED.

I will say this. Quebec separatists usually come from a genuine belief that Quebec is a distinct culture and nation that should be a country. Alberta separatists seem to think of separation as a big "I'm mad" button that will magically force Ottawa to write them checks for being very special boys.

My barometer for the Alberta political zeitgeist is my uncle who lives in the YYC suburbs, worked in O&G for four decades, and has voted Conservative or Reform in every federal election of his life. When I saw him in August he was like "this province is currently being governed by absolute loons"
