Seattle elected a mayor that immediately installs protected bike lanes upon the death of a person cycling. That’s a politician that takes traffic violence seriously.

‘It’s the best feeling’: how Copenhagen gave cyclists a green wave. “Traffic lights are synchronised so a rush-hour cyclist at 20km/h can catch green lights all the way.” If you want people to choose not to drive, make the non-driving trip better & easier for them. It’s as simple as that, really.

“All too frequently, decision-makers hesitate to depart from official manuals and guidebooks about how to design and operate roadways. I would like the "just take the lane" vehicular cyclists to experience taking the lane on an e-bike while going the speed limit (25 mph) only to have two cars speed by you in close succession with little space. Taking the lane is sometimes necessary but it will never replace safe infrastructure.

The Alberta government loves to overtly undermine the success of its own cities. This Orwellian “snitch line” about evidence-based protected bike-lanes to push out negative framing while inducing complaints is next level. They would rather more people die, traffic get worse, and cities get weaker.
