Rockpoint Natural Gas Storage has signalled an interest in reviving Mi’kma’ki’s defeated Alton Gas project. The Treaty Truckhouse Resistance has penned a letter warning Rockpoint not to waste their time & money, cautioning that “our collective willingness to defend this land & water persists."

To Mr. Tobias McKenna and the executive members of Rockpoint Gas Storage,

On behalf of water protectors, land defenders, Mi’kmaq treaty rights holders, and people of conscience in Mi’kma’ki,

We have learned of Rockpoint’s intention to invest in a gas storage project like Alton Gas. Let us be the first to say that this project has been roundly rejected by people in Nova Scotia, and our collective willingness to defend this land and water persists.

In Toby McKenna’s recent interview with All Nova Scotia, he said that Alton Gas Ltd was unsuccessful because they failed to gain ‘social license’ for the project. Let us say clearly and without qualification: this social license is unwinnable. Do not try. You will waste your time and money. This kind of project is not welcome here.

Through the many years in which Alton Gas Ltd attempted to build its gas storage project near Stewiacke, Nova Scotia, water protectors engaged in a number of varied and powerful activities to block the project from being built, including but not limited to:

• Multi-year re-occupation of Mi’kmaq lands at the work site, disrupting Alton Gas’s building activities
• Establishment of a Treaty Truckhouse on the work site, as enabled by the 1752 Peace and Friendship Treaty governing the Sipekne’katik district of Mi’kma’ki
• Legal intervention in project approval processes at multiple stages
• Province-wide, sustained pressure on federal regulators and MLAs to reject the project
• Cross-sector support for land defense, including from faith communities, organized labour, environmental groups, and local communities.

There are many more people standing to protect the water now, more than ever. Mi’kmaq treaty rightsholders have lived on this land, and defended these lands and waters, since time immemorial. T…

The people dominating our political landscape, culture, and economy are just so stupid and full of shit it's almost impossible to describe
A transcription of a conversation between OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and podcast host Theo Von on Von's podcast, in an excerpt from the Atlantic article "AI is a mass-delusion event" by Charlie Warzel:

"Sam Altman: I do guess that a lot of the world gets covered in data centers over time.

Theo Von: Do you really?

Altman: But I don’t know, because maybe we put them in space. Like, maybe we build a big Dyson sphere around the solar system and say, “Hey, it actually makes no sense to put these on Earth.”

Von: Yeah.

Altman: I wish I had, like, more concrete answers for you, but, like, we’re stumbling through this."
