Since it's come up a bunch for me lately. Media/Lit analysis and even creating with themes in mind is actually easy. It's like drawing. You just do it. You might lack the skills to articulate an image or an idea or a feeling, and you might not be aware of common tricks and themes, but that's fine!

It's weird to think of me having an 'origin' game, I was pretty locked into video games before my brain could form memories. It's probably more apt to say that Chrono Trigger when I was around 11, and then later Resident Evil around age 13~14 were games that changed my idea of what games could be.

I'm not totally sold on the art design in the new Ocarina of Time but there's some truth to this. The lack of vocabulary people seem to have for describing its style is a shame. I think we should generally refrain from insulting any human made art design as "AI" especially.

This is a part of the game's second level that exists only for you to go watch the birds and enjoy some serenity. It has its own location and scrolls the rest of the level off screen so you're not interrupted, it's very intentional. It's absolutely wild to see something like this on the NES.

The video game industry has always been volatile (I published Press Reset in 2021!) but the skeleton key to understanding the current state of things is this: Big games now cost 10x to make what they did 15 years ago but most do not generate even close to 10x the revenue. Simple as that

Husband is playing FFV and has finally gotten to the final battle. The spritework on bosses like exdeath and Kefka is so od extravagant in ways modern ff games have failed to recapture. Even safer sephiroth is a let down.

I guess the only thing I'd add that I haven't seen mentioned, as someone who wasn't impressed with the original Ocarina of Time either, is that the 3DS remaster looks great. The ideal up-res of the original already exists.

Giving an indie game a "thumbs down" negative review is LITERALLY a punishment. In many cases due to how the Steam algorithm works, it is a capital one. If a game just wasn't for you, or you have some feedback, please just post on the forums! Save the "thumbs down" for AI slop and other offenses.
