I don't think red state Dems need to spend their whole campaign loudly advocating for trans rights, I don't think my existence should be the biggest issue in politics at all. I think these Dems do need to stop taking the damn bait! Doing so basically concedes the issue to Republicans

If the Democratic party does so wholesale, then my life in this country as a trans person is effectively over. I don't care about sports, but I do care that the government treats me as the correct gender - this is essential for my safety and well-being. I won't negotiate around that.

It is absolutely catastrophic to my existence if, in the long run, Democrats see throwing trans people under the bus as a winning electoral strategy. The more anti trans Democrats win, the more Democrats will be tempted to take that position.
