Reading more about what Manchester City this is far more than a story about football, this is also the playbook for how some companies grew to global dominance in the last 30 years and the difficulties national authorities then have in dealing with them.

Ninety years ago today, Oswald Mosley tried to march his Blackshirts through the Jewish East End. 🧵 He had thousands of uniformed fascists behind him and 6,000 police clearing the way. But the people of the East End got there first.

Support the National Trust by voting for Council members by 11:59pm on 30 October 2026. Quickvote is convenient if you're short of time or worried about inadvertently voting for Restore Trust's Bonigala, Cristea, Goldman, Mealing or Omrani. In our often bad times, the Trust's doing good things.

There's an argument for scrapping the £100K salary limit for childcare but saying those on £100K salaries are uniquely hard working is bollocks. Workers on the early bus on their way to cleaning, caring, hospitality jobs work just as hard. Tories believe wealth is acquired by virtue. It ain't.

This summer, on a visit to London, we went to see the Battle of Cable Street mural. 90 years, today, on from that event you’d have hoped we would have made some progress in stopping for ever fascists and racists marching on our streets. There’s more to be done clearly! #hopenothate

Very disturbing that a political party has moved from saying that there should be no penalty for encouragement to violence, to calling for reduced penalties for literally blowing things up. A party manifestly not fit for political office.

A man builds an IED. He sets it off in a busy public street. Shrapnel flies about hitting cars, homes and a child's bedroom. It's a miracle nobody is injured. And Reform MP Sarah Pochin calls his imprisonment "disproportionate" and "two tier justice."
It does raise this point of two-tiered
justice..

Reform's Sarah Pochin believes the
sentence handed to the 64-year-old who
blew up a ULEZ camera was
disproportionate'.
